New Everton Stadium

Access and egress to the site will not be a problem come the time of use. There will be a fantastic infrastructure there to deal with it, that will only get better as time progresses. Look at how quickly they can move people out of Wembley, the road links there are horrific, they move as much of that as possible to the rail system and it works just fine. I could see a system similar to some German and Spanish clubs and their local travel, that we could have a discounted train ticket with a match ticket for use on Merseyrail.

Absolutely. I believe transport links, whether it's driving or public, will be fine when the time comes. It's just that it'll take plenty of work to get it that way on the dock site. The SC site is already on a dual carriageway.

I walk through the city (London) every day and see a lot of building work going on. The depth of the foundations is astonishing, often a good 4 storeys down. The fact the dock needs draining is potentially beneficial, removing the water should be a simple task; the resulting basin would've needed to be excavated anyway so saves us a job.

Very good point.

"The chief executive believes it will be two to three months before an announcement is made."

Read this in todays Guardian article.

Can't remember that being said in the AGM. Did they just make this up?

In simpler terms, the majority who are easily pleased have done so without any concrete facts/information.

Everton fans have the right to be scepticle when Kenwright and Elstone are on centre stage.

I personally believe we will go through serious improvement thanks to Moshiri, but not to the level that will have us challenging for the top.

Also, despite income from sponsorship being increased by the "300%" figure, wouldn't every other top 10-15 team in the premier league receive the same increase due to television increases in USA and Middle East? It wouldn't suprise me if our sponsorships still aren't in the top 10 in the league next season.

And the ones who are continuously negative continue to be so.

The truth, as it always is, will be in the middle somewhere.

The signs are good, but we need action. But given we've been 'slumbering' for almost a quarter of a century, what difference does a few months make at this stage?

Andy Hunter is the Everton board's man at the Guardian. Former Echo hack. He'll do as he's told.

But the dual carriageway is limited to drivers only. If you're on public transport, your options are much worse/journey more torturous. Would mean continuing the use of the soccerbus, which would in fact be no improvement on what we already have. The only improvement would be not having to find somewhere to park, the Dual carriageway would become even more congested than it already is if everybody used it, including those driving from Bootle etc. Stonebridge Cross is suited to haulage and distribution companies, who will utilise the motorway links throughout the day and purely to and from the motorway, not en masse, as a football crowd would be.

Since Liverpool FC have had their new stand built the roads have not been improved and there is so much more traffic that takes longer to clear. The only railway link is Sandhills which supports both grounds. But many walk from the city centre and just get dropped off in cabs. Now we have seen a classic example this morning of reds fans clearly up in arms over BMD. No green light has been given yet. One angry red said the area will crumble. Am surprised the roads around Anfield haven't. I live there and its busier now than ever. They also forgot that the council paid 23m towards the cost of the stand via improving things. Not sure what on.

Thing is Bramley Dock is able to cope. They had 2 sound city gigs there the other year. Traffic is inevitable. Maybe if they spend money on a terminus station similar to Manchester United then I can see things moving fwd. The arena is a nightmare to get to and from when there is a concert on but thats what happens there will always be congestion. Traffic is far worse at Anfield than ever before.

I don't think it is all to do with location, listening to Elstone last night, the new ground has to make the club money, it is not a case of Moshiri giving us 300 mil and us building a ground, the words Viable and sustainable were used, we will borrow money to build the ground, Moshiri and his business partners will enable us to borrow where previously we could not.

That's exactly how I see it as well. The guy is rich but he's not in Abramovich or Sheikh Mansour's league. Abramovich is building Chelsea's new stadium for them from his own fortune (which is legal within FFP) but Moshiri won't be doing the same so things will take longer.

But banks will be happier to lend to the club now for long-term projects, providing a sound business plan can be put to them, which I'm guessing wasn't the case before he came on board with the club in debt. It's the same with us. We've got £300m+ in bridging loans from the banks to fund our new stadium. Joe Lewis isn't putting money into the build but the banks are happy to lend to us because they see the stadium plan as viable and the owners as capable (Lewis' Tavistock Group is a $5bn business ultimately). They don't see us as a huge risk. Moshiri won't be seen as a risk either so should be able to get the loans needed but for that to happen he needs to get the stadium plans to a certain point and that will involve getting guarantees from the council on infrastructure, getting business plans and financial projections in place, and getting planning permission. All of which takes time.

Yep, that bolded sentence is pretty much nails it I think. You're in a much better position than before when a stadium was nigh on impossible, but people would be deluding themselves to think Moshiri is going to gift you one from his fortune like Abramovich is doing.

SC is an absolute disaster with regards to transport, it's a fallacy that just dropping something next to a motorway means you're sorted in that respect.

Look at Kirkby, didn't the application have something like 3000 people cycling to the game!?!?
