New Everton Stadium

Yes, Old Trafford's capacity is set to hit 88,000.

Our 60,000 stadium will look tiny in comparison, but I suppose that will be the case for most stadia.

It's needed it for a while - must have found a way round the rail way track that's behind the stand then?

Mad how despite their constant downfall in the league they're still spending mega money on players and looking to expand their stadium.

I really hope we get a 'unique' stadium.

Emirates, Ethiad, Wembley....although they are nice stadiums...there's nothing particularly great or unique about from an aesthetics point of view.
I bet they were all sold as being 'unique' stadiums in the design stage. They simply aren't.

The Beijing Stadium; Alliance; New Stamford Bridge and Lucas Oil: Those types of stadium are truly unique. They are also few and far between and I think we need to manage expections and be prepared for a pretty standard design.

Iconic

*taps Esks nose

I haven't seen a new building or stadium in the last decade that wasn't marketed using that bloody word.

:yellow: for anyone using it.

Just make sure the new stadium looks great, the best it can. History will decide if it's actually "iconic" in any meaningful sense.

The curious case of Farhad Moshiri, Alisher Usmanov and new money at Everton

According to this article in the guardian our new stadium will cost around 300 mil and will be financed via loans. They say a decision will be made on the new ground at the end of this season

I have to say reading that I would be disappointed if the capacity was only 50k especially if there is no easy expansion option

I didn't know that. They've showed the true value in having an incremental expansion plan. Gradually increasing their stadium one stand or a corner at a time rather than one huge increase.

In their days of a 45k Old Trafford just around 25(?) years ago fans would have laughed at going up to 88k, and every stage upwards they could have stopped and no one would have thought anything of it.

I want us to be able to break our record of 78k. 55/60k rising to 80k please.

It is far from a certainty that Everton, or the Council?, will do/allow this. Perhaps some pressure on the mayor would help for answers?
