New Everton Stadium

Temporary velodrome in the Echo Arena?? I gather your point, but it could give us the chance to target other sports and have them based in Liverpool rather than other regions of the country.
Feels a bit like trying to keep up with the Jones'. I think Belfast should host it, personally.

Meis has emphasised the importance of fans being close to the pitch, so am hoping this means no running track.

Mate has a season ticket at the Etihad and sits at the front near pitch level: it is the bit that was dug out after the running track was removed. It is not, therefore, covered by the roof and he is wide open to the elements - absolute nightmare for a modern stadium, in my opinion.

Hope Dan Meis is as good as his word!

They want it, and makes more sense than having it 30 miles for a relatively recent host city.
I know the youth games is there in a few years but not aware of the main one being a possibility. I don't think the money is there for starters, literally up in smoke, nor is there a collective will amongst politicians.

I confess to having no time for it anyway. I also don't think it's relevant to Bramley Moore either unless it is linked to the wider development of roads etc.

If the stadium that is to be built is to be more than just a football stadium , I don't think people should focus too much on the Commonwealth games alone.
I think that the intention would be to have an arena that can hold large non football events far into the future , large concerts would be the obvious example.
Croke Park in Dublin(capacity84,000) is regularly used for huge concerts, Springsteen, U2, Ed Sheerin have all played there and Garth Brookes was booked to play to a total crowd of 250000 over a series of concerts until planning regulations got in the way.
There is huge money to be earned by the businesses in the city from concerts such as these.
Even, if Liverpool is unsuccessful in this bid for the games, it may be successful in a future bid and having good facilities already in place would surely boost such an application.
