Posted way back on this thread, and I guess it has been posted many a time since.
Well worth a watch shows the flexibility of stadiums -moving stands, incorporating the roof, sunken pitches- and how to create a 'destination hub' with multiple use venues.
If not simply skip to 30mins to see the concept behind this (which is getting built incidentally)

Dont have a problem with it being a part of C/Games bid as I would think it may help getting planning permision pushed through. If it came to being a dual purpose on the docks or stand alone somewhere else I would pick the docks all day.I'm just going on what I've heard myself. The one shred of ITK info I've ever been told (albeit second hand) about Everton, by someone working on the project/proposal, is that it'll be designed with the CG in mind, but we're still trying to make it "4-sided". At the moment, imo, it seems likely it'd be used in the case of any successful games bid. Seems to fit the small amount of information we currently have on what the ground could end up looking like.
@Toffeeslam, I agree, but a 50-60k seater with open corners would look a bit odd, so surely we'll be alright there.
I think it will be much sooner than that. There is work currently ongoing to create the planning documentation.

Man City seem to have done very well out of their stadium, plus Singapore National Stadium shows what can be done nowadays . Maybe the club would look to utilise the stadium outside of the football season ....no problem with that for me as long as the location & stadium design is spot on.
The stadium will be built with the club in mind first and foremostSo what happens if we spend a fortune and Liverpool fail to get the GC, wasted a load of money then. City were lucky and already had a plan before they built it. West Ham on the other hand got it after the ppl running the Olympic o, we got a huge stadium, what do we do now
If England doesn't get the Commonwealth Games? Just do what they used to do before setting up the Commonwealth, invade the winning bidder and take it backI don't think CG bids are all that hard to win now, but what if England doesn't get them?
I'd like to know when the bid will be decided for the 2026 games.
I mean, how long do we have to wait before the new ground even gets started on if we have to wait to find out?
No, stuff it. Let's just go for the best football stadium we can get as soon as we can get it done.
