New Everton Stadium

Again likelihood this has been posted numerous times before but seems relevant to repost for those that may have missed.
Will be used for the World Cup thus predominately made for football first - however the stadium is made with bidding for the Olympics in mind and has little compromise regarding pitch

If they can move an entire half of a stadium, then count me in. Sounds bonkers to me.

Looks ace, but too expensive I reckon.

Check what he did with Saitama. One stand moves in to make an arena and out to make a stadium. Smaller scale but the technology exists.

Meis is a pioneer in this kind of technology driven design that reduces the compromises we see in spectator experience in a typical multi-use stadium. If we are looking at this kind of approach it could be very exciting.

For example, if you had a side stand moveable and an end also moveable plus an extendable/retractable roof you could have arena/stadium/athletics all well catered for...at a price...a pretty hefty price for that level of technical sophistication.

The only "announcement" you can take is that BMD is the preferred option.

The area is undertaking investment whether or not a stadium is being built.

There is a team working on the planning documents now, that will include a design. They wont take 2 years to do that, also, they wouldnt of been mobilised had they not already identified the preferred location.

Liverpool isn't even confirmed as the host city yet is it? So this is all pie in the sky. If we do win, use that piece of [Poor language removed] echo arena.

Always feared the CG 'attempt' would be tied in with our new ground, Moshiri is rich but not that rich if you know what I mean so he is going to need help from LCC. Never in a million years two stadiums are going to be built.

I know people on here will put images of athletics stadia converted to football or vice versa but they never look no more than just about acceptable and a bit 'bowly'. You can forget fans being as close to the pitch as at Goodison as well.

Dont have a problem with it being a part of C/Games bid as I would think it may help getting planning permision pushed through. If it came to being a dual purpose on the docks or stand alone somewhere else I would pick the docks all day.
Man City seem to have done very well out of their stadium, plus Singapore National Stadium shows what can be done nowadays . Maybe the club would look to utilise the stadium outside of the football season ....no problem with that for me as long as the location & stadium design is spot on.

It was mentioned a few pages ago but I'll reiterate the point again.

There is more to the CG than Athletics. A dockside stadium could be used for other events and hold the track and field elsewhere. (Smaller, custom build.....Legacy potential for NW athletics)

BMD It will be a football stadium. Stop fretting.

But it wouldn't, if anything it would create jobs and leave a legacy. Increase tourism and help regenerate poor area's of the city.

You'd really have to question the logic of stumping up cash to build venues when there's perfectly good facilities 45 mins down the road. Would they really build another velodrome & aquatics centre?

Loads of the London 2012 events took place outside London, so it's not like it must be contained within the host city.

As an aside, I'd take issue with the games being the catalyst for regeneration in Manchester. It was the Arndale Centre bomb that started that.

Temporary velodrome in the Echo Arena?? I gather your point, but it could give us the chance to target other sports and have them based in Liverpool rather than other regions of the country.
