NEW from @DCMS: "Government remains unconvinced by the case put forward for re-introducing standing accommodation at football grounds"
I think that exterior could date quite badly, quite quickly.Continuing on the theme of US and A Mega-stadiums, here is another recent Superbowl Venue. The university of Phoenix Stadium opened back in 2007, with a regular capacity of 63,000 (the kind of figure I reckon EFC should be aiming for). This number can be expanded to a whopping 78,000 for certain standing events. I'm liking the futuristic "UFO" styling of it, very 21st century. The sliding pitch and retractable roof are very smart IMO.
Not too fussed on one end lacking seating however (being dominated by a huge screen)- and the seat colour is way off!
I do find many aspects of it appealing though. What do forum members reckon? View attachment 34321 View attachment 34322 View attachment 34323 View attachment 34324
It is, I believe (overcrowding). But this is 2017, the club can control who enters the stadium. They can build a stand for a certain capacity for standing and also include rail seats for UEFA competitions, and it should be no problem whatsoever. Crazy that standing isn't allowed in the UK.Maybe I'm a little naive in my thinking but I've always thought the issue with standing safety was overcrowding? I don't see what difference it would make if the capacity for that particular section remained the same with rail seats?

I believe there is a maximum quota of 1.5 people to each space when the seats are upright. With a barrier in front and behind, overcrowding should not be an issue, as long as it's managed correctly.Maybe I'm a little naive in my thinking but I've always thought the issue with standing safety was overcrowding? I would like to think the club would want to see what the fans want in a new stadium. They've did it before with badges, more recently the new kit.
A simple survey where we can select which options are most important ( i.e. seating close to pitch) and maybe some suggestion boxes so the architects (while ultimately being in charge of everything) can build a stadium that fans actually enjoy going to.
I reckon the new stadium should have a Twitter Free Zone
I heard one of the stands will be called the Gwladys tweetI reckon the new stadium should have a Twitter Free Zone
Not the point. He's an architect. All I wish to hear are his thoughts on stadiums....in fact, scrap that, I'd rather he kept his thoughts about Everton and its ongoing stadium plans to himself. It makes it all sound very amateurish and insubstantial when he's tweeting about it all the time when there's nothing to report.
Maybe he and Trump have one thing in common...they should both shut their Twitter accounts down.
Typical of us this. The most important issue for the club to solve is being fronted in public by Anderson and Meis...two media whores.
Why can we never ever get our act together on this issue?
