I'm a southern blue so don't know Liverpool inside out. Could the city host the games today? Or does it need facilities built to host? Is there a running track worthy of the games already or one need building?

Tbh i can see that as just posturing by SA to enable them to reduce the budget. They will announce in a couple of days all is fine. Hopes raised then dashed, Everton that.

It has. But would need one large stadium too.

Liverpool and Merseyside, does have some infrastructure like the Echo Arena, and the two existing football grounds. maybe St George's Hall could be used? Sailing and other boating sports, wouldn't be a problem with the coastline and docks etc. Its the athletic stadium and swimming pool that would be needed.

So build the Stadium at BM with a removable pitch that reveals the still full of water dock for the swimming.

Or just build a fully flexible stadium and get LCC to fund some of it.

Running tracks around football stadiums don't work. The team working on the stadium will know that. there are some very clever people about. whatever is built will work for Everton.
