New Everton Stadium

He's talking absolute bollocks. Saw that interview posted on another forum and had a listen. He only mentioned Anfield as a possibility because he's under the misapprehension that Celtic Park was used for athletics in 2014 ("so why can't we do the same with Anfield"). Seems after yesterday's "offer" that the basics haven't even been worked out for this CWG bid yet.

Liverpool City Council don't even have an events department so not sure how they would ever manage and international athletics meeting.

Can see how any kind of CW bid put forward by them would have any credibility.

Well put. Hope this post doesn't end up being vaulted.
The thing is, you need to understand that this whole stadium malarkey is a marathon not a sprint. Get the slightest thing wrong and somebody will be in for the high jump. Either that or they'll be shot. This is just another hurdle we need to overcome to get ourselves to the winning line.

hilarious the utter nonsense people come out with isnt it...

Madness. I wouldn't mind but we've had giant puppets legging it all over the city every summer for the last few years too. Also, the Council wouldn't be solely responsible for the event if it came to Liverpool just as Sefton Council isn't responsible for the whole Open this year just because its in Birkdale. They just facilitate it.

As has been said by others I am sure that the club don't mind unofficial pronouncements and snippets from Anderson and Meis on the stadium but I would much rather communication was far more watertight.

The way Anderson is going I fully expect him to be sat beside RK at one of the weekly press conferences these days, telling him who is in the team before he knows himself.

As a fan I find Anderson's "contributions" to have nothing more than nuisance value and are increasingly irritating to listen to.

If an announcement is as close as folk in some circles seem to think, he would do well just to shut it until then.

What is this based on though? There must be a landmark in mind in order for the club to announce anything. If the land purchase happened they didn't announce that. They've not announced that architects are working on designs (although some guy on twitter is either working on it or trolling everyone). All they've said is that progress has been made and that they're close to sorting out how to pay for it. Apart from a load of old men standing by the waterfront in their cars, we literally know nothing else.
