Has anyone actually even confirmed it would be used for the commonwealth games or is everyone just presuming and then going crazy over nothing?

Why not build a new athletic centre at Goodison.....what a fitting way for the old girl to go.

Not exactly sure how it is 'fitting'.

Plus doubtful they'd fit an athletics stadium on that site.

What choice have we but to wait, and hope for the outcome we all wish for.

My gut feeling on this is good, I think this is the one thing above all else Moshiri wants to deliver, and do it well, exceedingly well.

Yeah annoying the amount of ITKs who are all certain land has been purchased, certain that there was an announcement coming, certain it's the dock, certain that money is in place, that it's nothing to do with the CWG. Yet as soon as tweets come out from Anderson it's back tracking galore. Oh SBC is still a possibility, it might have a track in it, no announcement imminent. Elstone basically admitted they'd not even figured out how to pay for it yet. Feels as though this is not as far as long as we've been led to believe. Could literally not be happier to be proved wrong with evidence otherwise though.

You could still have a raised floor but one end has to be open to allow the extra length of the track. I guess it will cost more to convert than it would to build a Don Valley type athletics stadium from scratch though, so doesn't really sound like good value for the taxpayer.

What could be cheaper than a piece of wasteland? Just in case others did not know what i meant by Don Valley type stadium, it only actually had one built stand. The rest was banked earth that had been terraced.

Somehow I don't think the Commonwealth Games Delivery Team will be too enthused about standing on a grassy bank in Kirkby. Bit of a comedown from Durban.
