That's what they did at hampden.
That means i'm now no longer fussed about whether we have to use it now. Whereas before i was staunchly against.

Yeah, exactly my thoughts about how we could involve athletics likely even without movable seating. Involve movable field, raise it up and then just manually build a track around that field. Capacity for athletics would be way lower than for football, but the stadium could be quite easily convertible for summer period of the year. Commonwealth Games and European or World Champs would likely be possible too. Then possibly involve an arena under the pitch like they have in Lille and we have a world class stadium that can stage almost all sports.
I used to have a fear of hurdles...but i got over itThere's a few hurdles to cross first.
You might want to stay that way. Hampden is a big bowl shape, thus capable of having the suspended track. We definitely do not want that. That means i'm now no longer fussed about whether we have to use it now. Whereas before i was staunchly against.

I've been saying all along that Liverpool should build a modest 15-20k athletics centre at SBC, maybe create a centre of excellence the way Manchester velodrome acts for cycling.Stupid question, but is there actually going to be a way of Liverpool hosting the commonwealth games, without Everton having to incorporate the new stadium in it?
i would say so yes, I'm sure there have been plenty of places that haven't/couldn't utilise a large football stadium in the bid. A predominantly temporary athletics stadium the could be downgraded to a more suitable size afterwards surely would not cost too much in the big scheme of things Its the Commonwealth games FFS not the olympics and World Cup rolled into one.Stupid question, but is there actually going to be a way of Liverpool hosting the commonwealth games, without Everton having to incorporate the new stadium in it?
As in LFC? They'd be celebrating finishing top of the medals table 5 minutes after the opening ceremony.Stupid question, but is there actually going to be a way of Liverpool hosting the commonwealth games, without Everton having to incorporate the new stadium in it?
Quite honestly, I hate this particular design. It's got to be the worst stadium I've ever seen. This stadium designed by Dan Meis looks really interesting.
It is going to be built for 2022 football World Cup in Doha, Qatar. Capacity is 49,000 seats. It allows configurations for bowl type of stadium, football, athletics, basketball and even rowing. Retractable roof, retractable pitch and a transformable seating bowl. It involves convention center, a water park, a mall-in-the-sky, a hotel, a museum of sport, an amphitheater, a plenary, a business center. The price though. £1.3 billion.
It shows one thing though. The history says that our new stadium from Dan Meis should be absolutely brilliant and we can be sure that if a plan for athletics is involved, then it won't ruin the perfect stadium for football at all. Even though it will have a much more reasonoble pricing than this stadium designed by Meis in Qatar:
