New Everton Stadium

You might want to stay that way. Hampden is a big bowl shape, thus 9capable of having the suspended track. We definitely do not want that.

You could still have a raised floor but one end has to be open to allow the extra length of the track. I guess it will cost more to convert than it would to build a Don Valley type athletics stadium from scratch though, so doesn't really sound like good value for the taxpayer.

This stadium designed by Dan Meis looks really interesting.

It is going to be built for 2022 football World Cup in Doha, Qatar. Capacity is 49,000 seats. It allows configurations for bowl type of stadium, football, athletics, basketball and even rowing. Retractable roof, retractable pitch and a transformable seating bowl. It involves convention center, a water park, a mall-in-the-sky, a hotel, a museum of sport, an amphitheater, a plenary, a business center. The price though. £1.3 billion.

It shows one thing though. The history says that our new stadium from Dan Meis should be absolutely brilliant and we can be sure that if a plan for athletics is involved, then it won't ruin the perfect stadium for football at all. Even though it will have a much more reasonoble pricing than this stadium designed by Meis in Qatar:

Jack of all trades, master of none come to mind.

Quite honestly, I hate this particular design. It's got to be the worst stadium I've ever seen.
Yeah, I would like something different as well, but Meis clearly designed it to suit wants and needs of billionaires in Qatar. They wanted it to suit desert conditions. Why I am posting it here is that it is possible to build a stadium for us that can be changed into a stadium for athletics that is not a bowl. The only question is price.

I wonder if an upgraded Wavertree would do? A few temp stands should do the trick. As mentioned use the Manc velodrome, Echo arena, Exhibition centre and our place for showing off ;)

As for the raised platform idea the below pic is a very rough comparison of Hampden, Crystal Palace and the Emirates (CP is slightly bigger to scale, dunno why, can't be bothered at this time). Shows that a raised platform isn't really a solution acceptable to a football stadium.

Totally agree on the above statement and is probably the best solution. As for the raised platform, it is possible as we have seen it done already in effect with the Etihad, we just have to raise the floor to the level they dug down. It wouldn't be easy though as you are talking about raising it probably higher than a house. I'm not particularly advocating this method as you can only have 3 stands built for it to work but nonetheless it is possible with a bit of engineering.

No thanks mate.
Let them build that in Stonebridge ....after the games they can give it to the November Premier League Winners of England.

That's what they did at hampden.
They could do that with Hampden because the stands are already miles back from the pitch, especially behind the goals, where the stands are curved.

The only way it could be done with a decent football stadium would be to leave one end open and build a temporary stand for the Athletics like Man City did. It would still be a compromised stadium that we won't get to move into until the 2023/2024 season.

(Edit - I see this has been covered)

Surely if the athletics track is to be incorporated then the stadium would have to be massively subsidised. Like many I hope they would be thinking of a temporary venue/wavertree for the athletics. However, knowing the anxiety this would cause (especially in light of the West Ham debacle) I am surprised that if the plan was not to use our new ground that we would have not have had our fears put to bed by one of the subtle tweets we have been receiving from architect/mayor.

Interesting to see Elstone words about the size of our fan base/waiting list. I think that puts to bed any talk of a massive capacity in excess of 60k.

I'd rather stay at an aging Goodison than move to an Olympic Stadium-style soulless arena.

So knowing our luck, we'll end up with a massively subsidised stadium with nothing to do with Everton incorporated into it and with a huge running track separating the fans from the pitch.

Kenwright will be buzzing. Finally the free stadium he's dreamt of.
