New Everton Stadium

Will 200 mill build you a "World Class Stadium" in England?
Esprit Arena in Düsseldorf, price around of 200m. I think yes.

Care to offer a reason why not?
Sorry mate. Didn't want that to sound disrespectful. Had to run out so should have waited to respond.
I hear what you are saying and financially, sure It would raise funds for the new stadium.
We have just spent decent money on the squad for the first time and are starting to compose a decent list. If we stop that for the next 3 or so years, we are faced with a situation of mid table mediocrity. Do you think our ambitious players will stick around? Where will that leave us in 5 years?
On field needs to remain the priority with this Sky money gift as long as it lasts.
Back Roberto to the maximum. The board needs to do their job and find a way.

Based on the Kirkby Model,
We had to sell 47,000 seats every game to generate £6m profit,
Assuming this will be pretty much the same deal, stadium capacity wise and with very little scope for additional commercial activity.
How can we possibly boost revenue by 30m,
I'm not being funny mate by the way.

Do you have a link to that, that seems unrealistically low.

10,000 tickets (the increase in av attendance that figure represents) x 25 (realistic number of home games) x 30 (average price of ticket plus profits from food, drink, programmes and added merchandise sales) = 7.5m.

Increase in matchday hospitality could be another £1.5m?

Naming rights = £4m a year?

Increased conference facilities = £1m a year?

All told that's £14m a year and in all honesty i think all estimates are prudent so that could be increased by several million. then there's the fact the TV money has increased hugely since Kirby was mooted.

I am hoping the club will look to Europe and the specialist German stadia design and build firms if this moves forward. They are higher quality and better value than the UK equivalents who tend to "cheap/basic" as shown by Barr's Destination Kirkby effort.

Realistically even with that approach £200m will get a stadium that is fairly straight-forward to build e.g. no complicated/adjustable roof, movable pitch, underground car parks and high quality internal and external finishes. Basic two/three tier stands, glass/clad external frontage, concrete internal walls/floors and standard plastic seats in the majority of the stadium will be order of the day.

However, if we focus on pitch quality, intimacy (spectator proximity to pitch, a behind goal stand with no boxes/exec seating etc.), acoustics, some low cost touches that reflect our heritage and appropriate pricing spread there is no reason we cannot get something we come to love.

Well no reason except our normal inability to fund or manage anything more complicated than a supporter tea-party!

I understand that argument but I guess the point I was making was do we need "more" players or do this squad plus the ones coming through just need time?

I don't think I made myself clear but I wasn't making the argument that we should accept mid-table bit rather that EL places are good enough for a few seasons.

Ofcourse if we win the EL then that extra money plus from CL qualification could be used.

If we don't have a new stadium and a better way of raising money those players won't stick around anyway because we will have no way to finance that wage bill.

We can talk how the board should do this and that bit we're a self financing club and that's the reality until perhaps ironically a new stadium is built.
