New Everton Stadium

Without the location, we dont get the funding/SPV thing.

It is the single key component.

And there is only one. In the whole wide world.

The club have had a number of different models in their stadium building schemes over the years. The world heritage site might be unique, but ways of getting a stadium built are not.

Exactly this.. it's the location that will lead to the increased commercial deals etc. Without the location it wouldn't be as good.. take stone cross.. the income generated from commercial deal would be pathetic in comparison to a stadium on the waterfront.

If you can't see that then you are blind to the facts and nothing will persuade you.

Its just as much about unlocking the Liverpool Waters goldmine, for some rich folk, but also LCC and the good folk of Liverpool.

I might be a billion miles off. But I dont think I am.

The bubble will burst and soon.

It's already happening. Major cable companies are already struggling with the rights costs of live sports due to cordcutting. As media moves away from the traditional conglomerates, the way live sports are handled will either change drastically or face reduction in revenues, simply because all the people that DON'T care about live sports are currently subsidizing those massive contracts. As those people filter away to an a la carte service model, the media companies will no longer have the user base to afford the current contracts. It'll be a bit before it starts to affect the PL, due to a global fanbase and thus more places to mine for rights money, but it will happen unless the leagues figure out a way to profit outside of the traditional forms of media.

That said, it's a good reason to build now, and 14 million a season should remain sustainable regardless of the bubble unless everything is broken forever and nothing matters anymore.

The broadcasters face some big issues in the coming years mate, no doubt about that.

But whilst they tend to play catch up, they usually do. Heaven only knows how football will be consumed, worldwide, in the next few years, but as long as it remains popular, it will remain, somehow, profitable to show the games.

Oh I agree, it's not going to kill the leagues.

But some recession should be anticipated. I don't see it as a real risk to Everton without it being a risk to the entirety of English football, barring a Euro Super League situation.

The scale of the recession will be based entirely on how the leagues and teams adapt to not having Sky et. al. dump truckloads of money in their lap. That's the real reason Moshiri may be Everton's 'savior' - it means Bill Kenwright won't be in charge when that recession hits.

Aye. Either way, the fact is, at this juncture, we havnt a clue how much TV/Phone/God knows What revenue will be lobbed at clubs in the future.

What we do know, is that Football is by a mile, globally, the biggest game in town.

We also know that we have a once in a lifetime, well, once ever really, to pop an Everton Ground on the docks.

More than happy to deal with what we know myself.

Somebody should start a thread to talk about the new stadium.... that's a topic we miss on here!

Be my guest mate.

We have covered some interesting angles these last few hours. Lets face it, till we see a model or video or something, its all about Should we Shouldnt we, how do the funding models compare, or what happens if football goes the way of Tug of War as a sport.
