New Everton Stadium

Seriously couldn't care less. The club is not defined by it's location. I don't think the club relies on being in Liverpool (it certainly doesn't exploit it like the other side, not that we need to), and could exist pretty much anywhere, if you ask me. A move out of Liverpool would probably see the RS crowing about having evicted us from the city, and the notion of the derby would probably die, but I can handle it. We don't need the RS, we have our own identity.
So what does define a club if not its location?

We 'could exist pretty much anywhere', right lets relocate to London since that seems to hold all the attractions for top players these days.

Yeh, I think it's pretty important for us to stay in the city.

I was unaware we had nice brickwork under that cladding! Can't believe it; it's criminal.

...interesting, thanks. It's more the land behind that building that's of interest, plenty of space behind and inside towards Wavertree Technology Park. Hotel, shops and a footy stadium with space to spare.

My office is there mate and there is no room for a stadium. You might be thinking between the technology park and edge lane retail park.

We might be in Liverpool, but our existence is not intrinsically linked to the city.

Would you stop supporting Everton Football Club if they were to relocate to Warrington (complete random example)?

Yes mate - only on the Bullens Road and Street end stands though. These were designed by Archibald Leitch who was pretty much the main man for stadium design in the early 1900s (he also designed the old Goodison Road stand which was replaced by our current main stand).

...yep, I drive through the technology park on my way into the office, cut through from Edge Lane loads of derelict land on the retail estate (opposite B&Q) then behind that where TJ Hughes had warehouses and the old Crawford biscuit site. Also, not sure if the cinema is now defunct.

Personally, yes.

- When Everton first played on Stanley Park it was outside the city boundary.
- When Everton first played at Priory Road it was outside the city boundary.
- When Everton first played at Anfield it was outside the city boundary.
- When Everton first played at Goodison Park it was outside the city boundary.

The city always followed Everton.

Below. Everton at Anfield. The city boundary runs through the current Kop:

Mate, the days of football clubs being representative of a city are long gone. You've got what, Barkley in our first team? He's the only local lad. The rest are from miles away or different countries entirely. If your attitude is about location then pop down to the conference and support a conference team where the majority of players are from that town. I'm not advocating a move outside of the city here, but it's rediculous to argue that location defines a club in this day and age when none of the players (the people actually playing the game) are representing that location.

Agree, though I'd leave both the Bullens and The Street End in tact, upgrading and expanding the Park End and Main Stand, so giving us a mixture of the old/traditional and the modern. Perfect. 50,000 capacity. Only in the PL are clubs obsessed with massive, 60,000 capacity stadiums. Massive clubs in Europe eg Juventus (and, in the future, AC Milan) have moved from larger to sub-50,000 capacity stadiums.

Totally agree as well on removing the rusting cladding on the exterior. So cheap and ugly compared to the grandeur of what's underneath.
Any photo's of the original brickwork ?
Love to see that restored and given its correct name ...Mauretania Stand.
