New Everton Stadium

I've got 'family' (wife's cousin) who is a Hammer. His main complaint is that his seat faces the pitch. Being slightly less flippant he & his mate have to take binoculars to the game & their seats are mid-level near the 18 yard line. The opposite goal might as well be in Birmingham using the naked eye. Meis will not inflict that on us at least.

As for capacity I don't know if we can sell out 61878 regularly but I know I want to support a club with the ambition to build a team and a club that generates and sustains that fan base. We've suffered from a paucity of ambition at Board level for more than thirty years. I am hoping this is finally changing. The decision on the stadium will be a clear statement of the extent of our ambition.

The real questions the club will be considering are ...

How much more does a 60000 seat stadium cost to a 50000 one?

This is extra debt that will have to be paid back.

Will they have to reduce ticket prices to fill a bigger stadium?

This could be lost revenue, depending on the numbers.

Also what timescale are they looking at?

60000 could be very good in the long term but bad for the next 10 years or so.

Its all about the numbers, most investors want to see the rewards for themselves, not leave a legacy for others.

It's no good having a 50k stadium that's sold out every week if you have no room to manoeuvre, a 60k with even 5k unsold seats is generating more money, you have to factor in the additional food, ale, programmes, merchandise sold etc. Bramley Moore is going to be open seven days a week generating money, whether that be for concerts, events, conferences, stadium tours, and I have a sneaking feeling for week long eating and drinking too. I also believe a new home for the Everton Collection will be found. It's going to be a cash cow. We'll have secured ourselves a place as a top team by then too so extra tv revenue. There's so many money making avenues Moshiri will be exploring. When this is built, the area will be being developed all round, Central Docks, Ten Streets, in years to come, this will be considered town, we'll have a stadium in town! Bring it on, Moshiri knows its importance.

It will cost far more to extend by 10,000 than just building a 60k instead of a 50k to start with. Man city will have added 14000 seats at a cost of 120 million when they have finished the third tier on the remaining two tier end, that's £8571 per seat. Compare to Meis price of around £6000 a seat and the fact that it would be probably a bit cheaper again as he gave a quote on a 50k stadium.

I like the idea of a small-ish upper tier built onto the main stand that can be closed off if we have problems selling out, but personally i don't think that will be the case.

I read something about the footprint of the site being a constraint to capacity, think it was over the weekend, if anyone saw this?

I would be surprised and disappointed, very, if we limited ourselves to 50k. But we may not get 60k either if true.

I have a feeling it will be mid to upper 50k range. We need it to come in at 55k minimum, whilst not losing anything in the way of creating an intimidating atmosphere inside with at least one deep stand and fans as close as possible.

The footprint is fine for 60k
