His logic behind the 45k is so flawed it’s beyond ridiculous yet he’s defending himself on Twitter sayin “evidence” proves it.
45k results in around only 1000 extra general admission seats.
One of his tweets:
"...and to me I'm not sure you can guarantee an extra 20k gate per game to justify the investment.
If there was 20k extra out there then surely we should be getting close to capacity for midweek cup games and things like testimonials like our rivals across the park..."
As if midweek cup games, likely against poor opposition, should form the basis of our decision to build a bigger capacity. Oh look, another mention of LFC too.
Gav's ridiculous opinion can be taken apart quite simply with this:

Spurs, enduring one of their best spells in recent history, with CL football on offer, playing in the biggest and best Stadium in the Country, and averaging 66K for league games, only managed 23,926 with a reasonable sized following from Barnsley in the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup. Everton, having a horrendous season, barely having won a game at that point, and selling out every league game, played lower league opposition in the same round with a sub 500 following from Sunderland and the attendance was 23,000.
By Gavin's logic Spurs should have settled for a 45K Stadium too as their midweek Cup crowds show they don't have the fans..
We sold out a qualifier in July at reduced capacity of about 32K for Ruzomberok, but Buckland has probably used the Atalanta game to form his opinion.
