New Everton Stadium

Quick update - Labour Group met on Monday as scheduled and the proposal was passed with barely a whimper. Just a couple of questions which were easily answered. It flew through.

Think it will go to a regen committee at some point and district auditor before going to cabinet.

Will it not go to the full council given that this is a large loan and a change in strategy?

Quite possibly - I've not asked. Will try and find out.
I'm no expert I'm afraid. Certainly last time it was DA and then Cabinet, but as you rightly say, this is somewhat different. Even so, it would likely fly through council as Labour hold all the aces there. Lib Dems will make a noise but Labour will fall in line with Joe

Any idea on timescales for all these meetings/votes?

Always interesting that Mosh is the majority shareholder and therefore in real terms the owner but has not a place on the board. Always thought this was strange. Is it that way to leave matters open for some one else to come in??

There is IMO an awful lot behind the scenes of which we have not got a clue.

Your last sentence says it all.
I’ve worked for a large multinational for the last 35 yrs
It’s now owned by one of the largest food manufacturers in the world.
I work at a low level on the floor
But I’ve been a shoppie , I’ve been on pension committees and I’ve worked briefly with Various MD’s
Due to my length of service I’m on first name terms with most of the big wigs in my factory
One thing I do know is that
A ) There’s a 10 yr plan
B) There’s a 5 yr plan
C) There’s a 3 yr plan
D) There’s a 1 yr plan.
Our MD knows the 1 yr plan
He may know the 3 yr plan , but in his own words he hasn’t got a clue on the 5/10 yr plans.
It’s the way these lads work
They have plans , they put them in operation and no one outside their inner circle know what’s happening
This includes the ESK by the way.
If anybody thinks Moshiri and Usmanov became billionaires and increase their wealth every year without having a plan then they are sorely deluded
There’s a plan and even though we can’t see it and have no idea what it is , the plan is in operation

Cheers mate for the reply. Quite, us plebs essentially know sod all which is why we grab any little bit of info and speculate to our wildest dreams.

The whole business of obtaining BMD for the location of a new stadium does point to the inadequacy of GP for the future of the club never mind refurb plans that folk come up with. Couple that to Mosh and partner's acquisition of the Liver building with the plan to house club staff there does point to a plan.

Always said Mosh and mate would never have gone near that building if they had not come to Liverpool, in fact doubt very much if they even knew of it's existence.

I only speculate but to me there are far more ideas in the pipeline than a new stadium and the likes of Mosh and co are getting in on the ground floor.

Of course there is the point that with a new stadium on the waterfront the capital value of Everton Football Club will increase by I don't know how many fold. Potentially though it could exceed the value of Liverpool FC.

Exactly right about the Liver building
Corestate who co-own the Liver building are a German property market behometh
The Liver building will be like a fancy site office with indoor toilets and central heating.
Docklands all over the world are being developed to great effect and at a great profit
I don’t think my dad and grandad who both worked on the docks ever envisaged the plans that are in place.
Moshiri and Usmanov will both make money from the docks but it’s the Kudos and status that owning a successful PL club is what’s driving this as well
Usmanov has had his rows and arguments with Kronke and Kronke has pissed Usmanov off
These lads don’t get angry , they get even
Everton sitting above Arsenal in the league and outmuscleing Arsenal would be Usmanovs idea of getting even

So is Mosh in partnership with Corestate? I f so how on earth did that come about? Mind boggles!

I know the building worked in it for four years, super location.

A lot of people see the stadium build in isolation , whereas in reality it’s part of the overall package.
The stadium without the rest of the docks being developed would be a stand alone once a week venue that wouldn’t generate a lot of non matchday revenue.
The docklands developed without a large iconic building as a focal point to attract large amounts of footfall would not make it as attractive to outside investors.
Whatever Moshiri’s plan is and whatever he intends to invest in the stadium he will more than make back on property deals.
For all we know Peel and him may have come to an agreement where Moshiri delivers the stadium and Peel gives him first refusal on choice building sites.
It’s only idle speculation on my part but it’s not an unrealistic scenario
As I say Moshiri knows the plan, Usmavov knows the plan , after that it’s anybody’s guess

So tenants move out while building is refurbished
When it’s finished USM have the penthouse offices
Moshiri has the floor below that with Meis in a corner office looking at BMD
Corestate on the next floor down
Everton have the 3 floors below that.
The rest is rented on the open market probably to developers who have Building been done on the docks
Simple really lol

Work started weeks ago on the 7th floor - it's been completely stripped out (and noisy!!) which has caused a few issues in the building but nothing severe. Sportpesa are already in the building.

EFC kick start the regeneration of the whole docklands. Peel have been sitting on the land for years and have been waiting for an opportunity like this to come about, they now have it. Can also explain why Usmanov wants in. As you say, its not just the Liver Building or the new Stadium in isolation, its the bigger picture. Theres money to be made on the Liverpool Waterfront and Moshiri & Usmanov want in.

Great to see.

Also prepares the road for its full pedestrianisation on Matchday, creating a Fan walk from the centre, lined with local companies in Pop-up bars and food stalls

MAJOR REVAMP SET FOR HISTORIC “DOCK ROAD”
A major £52m roadworks scheme to better connect the north of Liverpool to the city centre has entered a new phase.

Contractors for Liverpool City Council have now completed works widening a major junction between Leeds Street and Great Howard Street (A565) and have moved on to begin a radical overhaul of the city’s historic Regent Road (also known as the Dock Road) to be more pedestrian and cycle friendly.

The first element of the Regent Road project involves the laying of new pavements and road resurfacing with the creation of new footpaths to begin in February, followed by a purpose built cycle lane which will open up a new 13 mile riverside route from Formby in Sefton to the city centre for the first time.

A seven mile southern cycle lane will then connect to Otterspool when the proposed upgrade to The Strand is completed.

Preliminary groundworks have begun to address culverts and drainage with the first phase, starting at the city centre heading north to the Grade II listed Bascule Bridge at Stanley Dock in the city’s World Heritage Site, expected to be completed in Summer 2018. The second phase which goes north of the 86-year-old bridge is scheduled to complete the following summer.

The improvements are seen as crucial for the wider regeneration of the area as Regent Road borders both Peel’s £5.5bn Liverpool Waters Scheme, which includes the new £400m Liverpool 2 Superport, and the Ten Streets Creativity District, as well as leading to Bramley Moore Dock – the location for Everton FC’s proposed new football stadium.

Meanwhile contractors, Geoffrey Osborne Ltd, are continuing to convert the A565 into a new dual carriageway, which is part funded by the Liverpool City Region Growth Deal.

Other phases of the 2.7km long dualling project, which also will require lane restrictions, include:

  • Phase 1: Leeds Street to Blackstone Street – Road widening phase (completed by Winter 2018)
  • Phase 2: Bankhall Street to Millers Bridge – Road widening phase (completed by Summer 2019)
  • Phase 3: Boundary Street to Bankhall Street – Upgrade of Traffic Signalised junctions and Street lighting with associated resurfacing (starting spring 2018)
Expected to finish by Summer 2019, the £22m upgrade to North Liverpool’s Atlantic Corridors are a major part of Liverpool City Council’s wider £300m Better Roads programme to improve the city’s road infrastructure.

The scheme will be complemented by the creation of a further two new waterfront link roads, at the cost of £20m, at the city centre end of the A565, which are being built to support a proposed new £50m cruise passenger facility and new £30m Isle Of Man Cruise terminal.

The first phase of the A565 upgrade was completed by Graham Construction in September 2017 after a year-long road closure enabled the £10m replacement of the Great Howard Street bridge, so it could handle more freight tonnage for the Liverpool2 deep water container terminal.

Councillor Ann O’Byrne, Deputy Mayor of Liverpool, said: “Upgrading our highways infrastructure is fundamental to building a better Liverpool – one that is match fit for the 21st century.

“This scheme is about future proofing the city’s growth in North Liverpool and is the golden thread to underpinning the success of major regeneration projects such as Liverpool Waters, the new Cruise Terminals, the Ten Streets District and the potential new home for Everton Football Club which will all help redefine our economy over the coming decades.

“Despite government cuts the city council has never been more committed to growing our economy and these highways schemes are another example of how Liverpool’s potential is being unlocked – with an unprecedented £14bn of investment either on site or in the pipeline.

“Of course for commuters highways works means temporary disruption, but by investing £52m in these schemes – with a further £130m of works to begin across the city this year – we will provide long term benefits for motorists, cyclists and pedestrianswhich will help the city attract and accommodate new businesses, more tourists and create new jobs.

“Quite simply, better roads means a better city to live, work, visit and play in.”

Thanks for the update.
I assume Sportspesa only moved in after they started to sponsor us.
There’s already 2 angry birds on the roof and they will get angrier when they see the new stadium glistening on the waterfront

How do they fit in with this I wonder and the top floor? Can we expect Mr Usm I wonder?

Comes back to what I said before we know sod all of what is actually planned.
