New Everton Stadium

Do every club go through all this crap or is it all reserved for just us? I swear down if it was a stadium for the rs it would be half built by now.

:( feeling glum today :(

Stanley Park Stadium[edit]
The stadium was initially scheduled to open in 2006[4] with a capacity of approximately 55,000 seats. This was designed by Manchester-based architects AFL. A subsequent redesign of this stadium brought the capacity to 60,000,[5] and planning permission was granted for this in 2003. Construction on this never progressed past the ground works due to a lack of funds.

Under the ownership of Tom Hicks and George Gillette, Dallas-based architects HKS were asked to present a plan for a 60,000 seater stadium that could be easily expandable to over 73,000 in the future. They came up with a futuristic design with an 18,500 seater single tier kop. The design was estimated to cost £400m, and the club were granted planning permission for this stadium. Work never started on this as the owners Hicks and Gillette couldn't raise the funds.[6]

In January 2008, AFL presented Liverpool FC with another redesign of their 60,000 capacity stadium. This was dubbed "New Generation Anfield" and would seat 73,000 with 18,500 in a single tiered kop, similar to the HKS capacity. The stadium would also include two Wembley-style arches.[7] It would cost £290m to build. Planning permission has not been sought for this project however.

In January 2012, the Telegraph reported that the new club owners Fenway Sports Group had decided to ditch the HKS design on the bases of cost and practicality

I know someone who knows who someone and basically they say this is further along than most think, it's basically been agreed and just needs finalising.

Liverpool's second expansion will also commence at the end of next season.

Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, the 3 biggest clubs in London have all had major delays, problems and overspend (well not yet Chelsea on overspend but.....?)
They only club that didn't have such problems were the club that sold its football ground to move into a good as free not fit for football athletics stadium.
Today West Ham released thier financial results for the last year. Even though they moved from a 35,000 stadium to a 56,000, because they have had to heavily discount the price of a lot S/T's to get people through the doors, they made a meserly profit of just £1.8 million from the whole of last season's gate receipts compared to their last season at Upton Park.
The West Ham fans have been truly screwed over by the owners as they are stuck with it for another 98 years but their above financial figures also makes you realise how hard it is to pay for a non free new stadium build?
