New Everton Stadium

Don't worry mate I know you've been a supporter for a long time so I respect your opinion on Everton issues. Your correct about being under performers commercially but it's not just against our scruffy bellend neighbours either. I should imagine we are pretty far down the pecking order regards to commercial revenue, merchandise sales etc for the simple reason that the board think small and act small, always have and always will. I don't see any change in he foreseeable tbh unless by some miracle we do get the go ahead for a new 50k stadium with someone willing to pump millions into turning a dream into reality. I think the Kings Dock was the one, a once in a lifetime opportunity which sailed by and we've suffered ever since. That would have put us bang on the map ( commercially ) imo

That is so right and it was screwed. At that time there was some what of a break up between BK and Gregg which let in Earl. Kings dock out there on the waterfront skyline would have been incredible perhaps phenomenal. As for Earl what has he ever put into the club, sweet FA.

From Kings Dock to Destination Kirkby was some come down that's for sure lol I guess all we can do is wait and see if WHP gets up and running

A redeveloped Goodison (if it was even possible - it isn't) would simply not act as any sort of catalyst for turning around our financial fortunes, or making us attractive to corporate partners, or would-be buyers, or changing our image as a club.

Which makes it an utterly pointless, expensive-for-no-good-reason exercise.
But I thought the state of the stadium is one of the main factors why people believe we're not attractive to investors/owners and so is a reason we need a new stadium.....can't have it both ways....

As I said before, your position is precisely that that the MUFC Board initially adopted when they were keen on a new stadium.

'The state of the stadium' also involves where it is situated.

There's only one solution and that is a brand new stadium elsewhere.

I would honestly say the location of the stadium is holding us back even more than the state of it.

Visiting fans love Goodison because it is a stadium with is in tune with tradition rather than the concrete bowls so many have become.

But my word......walking to the game along Westminster Road, County Road, Spellow Lane (especially Spellow Lane) or any of those streets leading from County to Goodison Road is just plain depressing.

We need to move, I'm afraid.

Is there a spade in the ground yet, or are they starting with the Park End annex first?
Still waiting on that

for either...

Just a phrase friend. But how Would you describe our current position and I do not mean the league table.
Yes just a phrase indeed ,this season is quite frankly unacceptable to a club of this stature.
This current board will not be here forever, sooner rather than later we will have owners that will put the club back where it belongs.
In the meantime its great to see our neighbours spunk 200+ million with similar end result to ours....in their shadow ?.....never for me.

All very desirable but we just do not have the money.

That's the spirit! Thankfully Baxter, Mahon, Cuff and the like were actual pioneers and lived up to the motto.

Getting boring now. Redevelopment is possible but there's no will to do so. And how would a new stadium turn our finances around? Kirkby certainly wouldn't have and without a central location (see below) or a blue chip partner we'd be saddled with a huge debt to re-pay.

Any new stadium must be more central than Goodison is now and available for use 365 days a year. Kirkby was a terrible plan and so is WHP. For a new stadium to work we must integrate with the city.

Being honest I can only ever see any new EFC stadium being council owned, this present lot do not have one single successful major project come even close to fruition.

As someone who grew up living in Barlow Lane, this is a little bit offensive to me. Walking to The Emirates, White Hart Lane, Loftus Road, The Hawthorns, Boleyn, and many other grounds, are of similar nature. Visiting fans like our ground (Well some do anyway) for the reasons you express, if they park in Stanley Park they can easily forego the depressing sights that are Liverpool!

Oh my, has it really been a year since this thread was created.
Still what’s one year in between 20 years.
I look forward to the next round of posts from those who claim to be close to the club telling us that we are even lucky to have a stadium. I do enjoy some of regular posters whom fell it neccessary to point out that we should stop being ambitious and accept our plight.

Aye, travelling up the Lancs and on into Kirkby is much more scenic and aesthetically tasteful.

And also totally moot as A) that is not what we do and B) not what we are ever going to do.

Stop living in the past.....the Kirkby thing is long dead and gone.

It is what EFC does in the near to medium future which determines our standing in domestic and European football for generations to come.
