Isn't it to reduce the distance of spectators to the pitch in the corners as part of an optimal distance calculation? I would have thought a traditional rectangle would give the bigger capacity as you don't lose seats in the wave shape of the oval like yours. When looking at the overlapped designs they look similar but we have one end that is tiny compared which is where most of the size differential is.

UEFA like seats to be within a certain distance so having less seats going less higher up into the corners of a stadium keeps within those distances (although I think the back few rows of our massive stand are outside of the optimum distance?)

Guess it might be a little bit beyond what is classed as optimal, but you don't get one of the biggest single tier stands in Europe without a bit of compromise and it's still going to be better views from the back than say Wembley.

People will buy tickets in that area to have the drama and passion of being with the hardcore supporters that make the most noise, the view from the seat will be almost secondary so at the end of the day a couple of thousand seats outside of an imaginary line is neither here nor there.

As part of the UU expansion they were supposed to use, and had specified a much higher grade of odour elimination from the plant. However, they proved that it wasnt required as the odour was below targets anyway. They did though have to sign an agreement that if complaints were received they would retest and upgrade to the originally specified kit at their own cost. Odour from the plant is not an issue, and if it becomes one, its on them to fix it.

Here it is in the flesh for you to compare, photo taken a few minutes ago from one of the live cameras at the stadium. Obviously still a work in progress and all the covers are still on the seats that are installed. They started work on the pitch recently though.

And if BMD is 52k and Anfield is 60k+ by then?

Assuming BMD happens both should be used imho. Along with both Manchester stadiums. And at least two from London (obvs inc Wembley). We're a country where our best stadiums are concentrated in a few cities. We shouldn't be putting forward stadiums like MK and Plymouth like we did for 2018 just because FIFA prefers one stadium per city, especially given the fact they're holding the whole damn thing in Doha in 2022.
