Yeah, saw his comments about not liking Lucas oil stadium. He's said ours won't be based on historic buildings. I think it will be ultra modern.Definitely not. It won't be Lucas Oil stadium either, thank heavens.
Not at all, no. It’s childlike logic to think like that, it’s just a number plucked out of thin air because it’s a nice round figure, other than that it serves no purpose whatsoever. It’s like saying we’re only being ambitious if we spend £100m in the summer.
Do people here NOT have a fear of empty seats? Part of what makes a sporting event experience so great is the atmosphere. You can always raise ticket prices on the expensive seats as interest increases, but having empty seats anywhere stinks. It kills any atmosphere IMO. I recognize there is a sweet spot in terms of quanity x price = revenue and price demand at least locally are probably elastic, but if the stadium can truly create a unique experience - and I think it can because Everton fans are much more passionate or frankly, better than many of the fan bases of our competition - we will get tourist $$$, some more sources of income over time from weathier pockets of the country and world. It's also that atmosphere that wants to keep you at the stadium after the match to have a few at the pub, hang out a bit, push more revenue into the hands of the club.I don't have a fear of empty seats, they'd be in the gods anyway.
I do have a fear of the club over reaching and living beyond it's means.
The extra 5k seats (from 55 to 60) would be the most expensive to build and offer the least return.
I'd far prefer that the money needed to get to 61,878 was spent on future proofing the stadium so that one day we might even go to 70k if needed
I'm sure it will blend in a bit with some of the historic architecture and it should somewhat, partially to pacify the INESCO folks, but has he done anything that looks anything but modern? MAYBE Miller Park, but it's a baseball stadium, which is a sport that wants more traditional looking venues. I think the Linc in Philly and Paul Brown in Cinci are pretty darn modern looking, and the Roma stadium design is truly amazing. It may have some odes to the docks and tradition, but I think we'll see something modern and iconic rising out of the docks and it will be great.Yeah, saw his comments about not liking Lucas oil stadium. Hitler would have been pleased.Just build a 200k seater stadium and sell tickets for £3. Simple.
See I don’t think that’s true. When I said ‘loads of people’ I just meant our fans, on here and twitter etc.Nice round figures and crude comparisons with competitors' numbers are how the vast majority of the public understand this kind of thing. You're prepared to spend time thinking more analytically about it, but the man on the street won't. And whether you like it or not, how the average person perceives Everton does have an effect on the club.
