New Everton Stadium

Relax. Mosh isn't here to simply waste hundreds of millions on underperforming employees. There is a wider bricks and mortar play here.
That may have been there initial thinking
But clearly the way they have slowed down the process would indicate this isn't a priority. Alarm bells were ringing when it went from 300-500m.

Remember this old chestnut
Funding and planning permission are expected to be in place in early 2018,

How long would a planning application for a build of this magnitude and complexity usually take for approval?

I'm more concerned about funding, but the club have committed to submitting the application by the end of the year.

I expect the whole funding aspect to continue to be a grey area, the club don't have to make an announcement to the extent that funding is secured, and of course there is no requirement to have funding in place in tandem with a planning application.

It's worrying for a project to be as long in the tooth as this allowing for inflation and complexity of build that finalising funding still seems to be outstanding.

How do you finance something you haven't designed?

You have to have a budget before you can design something realistic -

What we appear to have here is an unaffordable pipedream - If I bought land and asked an architect to design me a house, I would have to provide him guidelines - what size and what my budget is. This appears to be the other way round

Still working on financing over 2.5 years into the scheme.

Laughable.

This isn't a serious proposition. It's a series of can kickings down the road.

Been there, seen that, bought the t-shirt.

Forget it. Not happening.

Just like the kings docks, kirkby, walton hall park. Really disappointing but like you've said we've been here before.

Well yes. But you don't go from blank sheet of paper and vague specification (capacity based on projections) to "can we borrow half a bil?" straight away, do you?

You would presume potential financiers would want to see their plans for the land, what it would look like, likelihood of planning being granted etc.

100% agree - but this just seems to be the other way round & time getting the better of them.

By the time finance was in place for 250m, stadium was going to cost 450m and so on. We are now left with a stunning drawing of an unaffordable pipedream & god knows how much in architect, consultancy and other expert fees

I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree here. It would seem to my eye to be proceeding largely how I'd expect a large construction project to (in my experience in the sector).

I guess we'll find out in 6 weeks or so when the planning goes in.

Or they continue with the pipedream through the planning process, while looking down the back of the couch for some extra spare change

The weight of history is on my side over this. Trust me; this is a fantasy and fans are getting played. Again.

How are we being played? It might not happen but what is the positive of another failed ground move? Apart from making themselves look stupid and proving you right?

It's a governance issue: new man comes in and wants to make a fast buck - if others can be wrangled in to pay for it = great. If not, the fans are in quiescent mode for years thinking there's big plans in the offing.

Please wake up and smell the coffee. How many times do these gangsters have to mug you off before you accept it?
