New Everton Stadium

You really think the Government will reject it if it's called in Dave?

Or you think the delay would be the reason for it failing?

If it gets called in, and it's a big if, then it will be resolved within months - no chance in hell this government won't approve it in short order

As has been said above by another poster, the danger is that the Sec of State sits and hands down a 'go' verdict - then that decision is challenged.

The club look like they took the decision to ignore a red line drawn by heritage groups over in-filling the dock and have been hoping their resolve would crumble. That looks fanciful now, and time is an issue.

How is it a red line filling in the dock? How exactly will they build the stadium? Make it float? Put bits of wood over the gap and hope it holds? Filling in the dock was always going to happen. Heritage knew it and so did we. Yes its a calculated risk, business generally is. But stopping the whole thing just because English heritage didn't want the dock filled in is just ludicrous.

I am not sure they hold as much sway as people think. If LCC approve I highly doubt Government will overturn it.

I’d love for a statement from these suits at Heritage England, UNESCO and the Victorian Society detailing exactly why a derelict dock that does nothing for a city provides over this stadium project.

Joke organisations that should be scrapped. This city is on its knees and needs the economic boost this project will provide.

Most of them have probably never visited Liverpool in their lives.
The english based joke organisations will be based down south. The world ones will have offices down south.

Down south is full of rs

=Koff and mind your own busines

They do have a lovely website

I hope the sixth form student who designed it is having a nice summer.

Anyway, their site

We have also advised that the application should be refused, unless the decision-maker concludes that the public benefits would outweigh the substantial harm to Bramley-Moore dock and the harm to the World Heritage Site which the proposals would cause.

A simple case of we want to be recognised. It’s a £500m development creating thousands of jobs and tens of thousands of visitors, therefore regenerating a complete rundown area of the city.

It’s safe to say we can file this away and pat historic England on the head and send them a nice hamper for Christmas.

UNESCO and English Heritage have had far too much say in what happens in this city for a long time, they've prevented good schemes going ahead, they've regularly ruined developers designs to fit their idea of what the city should be - all rather funny when you consider none of these people who make these decisions would ever consider living or working in Liverpool, most of them having never stepped foot in the city.

It's actually a shame we have these groups ruining desperately needed investment in the city, with the way this council runs things there absolutely does need to be someone overseeing what they're approving but these groups are sadly not it. It's not a surprise that the likes of London just ignores the advice they give half the time.

massively agree, guess it’s why the director is under investigation with old bill. I know there’s plenty who are unhappy but big joe likes his *cough* perks

I think I read a while ago that UNESCO made Liverpool Waters lower the height of the proposed skyscrapers they were going to build.

Liverpool City Council should be handing the WHS back. Literally nobody from the city cares about it.
