New Everton Stadium

It'll be an incredibly emotional day if (when imo) we leave the old lady. There won't be a dry eye in the house I'm sure.

However, I can equally envisage the day that I take my seat at our shiny new ground and looking around with pride knowing it'll be the place where future generations of Blues will create their own memories and how it'll find a place in their heart. God willing I look forward to that day.

Onward and upwards Blues.
When did GP start to be referred to as 'The old Lady''?

Seems like a recent phenomenon to me. Last 10 years or so.

1999. David Conn, then of the Independent, now of the Guardian was apparently the original user of the term.
Thanks. I know Rangers use that description about Ibrox (as well as The Big House). Maybe Conn took it from there?

I'm not overly fond of it, tbh. It's a description that makes a virtue out of a necessity, as it were.

Let's see what options / proposals come forward. In the meanwhile I keep going back to the Friends stadium Stockholm and this vision of our own 50 000 seater on a dockside location- lit up at night, it would be in all the waterfront panoramics- Amazing.

Absolutely, the council should be looking up to cleaning and refurbing our open spaces not covering them with concrete. There is so much brownfield around the council should be getting hold of that for developeent and applying pressure to land holders and developers.

I feel sure that the council could take stronger action with developers like Peel even to the point of a CP on land.
Yep, can you imagine coming out of the ground after a decent win (probably post Martinez for that scenario) and walking down five minutes towards 200 plus city centre bars..

Couldn't give a flying one about where they stick it, I will be there. The point I was answering was about access/egress and if you've been to the arena with a 10k crowd you'll understand the problems caused by a central location
Ooops, touched a nerve me thinks. Season ticket all my life but only get to about half the away games so do understand about access/egress. Don't know if you ever got to wembley but their local transport is shoite but they don't seem to have trouble dispersing. I would quite gladly give up our trophy of being the best ground to get away from and be in the city centre, you don't have local business that moving away may affect?

Take a chill pill and get on board the ride that isto our new stadium and don't think the world is against you.:p

It's not, they had outline planning permission which is nothing, each and every building would have to go through planning and gain approval for them to go ahead. The only approved buildings are a 40 storey tower and an office on Princes Dock which wouldn't affect the stadium site. Liverpool Waters is basically just a vision and Peel have been struggling to get investors onboard.

The Shangai tower, which is the flagship building still hasn't received full planning permission; like the entire scheme it's been given initial approval. Liverpool waters is more than a vision, along with wirral waters it's a project.

The same way 25 years ago when they had ludicrous idea of the Atlantic gateway; the last purchase being MDHC. And now look Liverpool 2 is on course and Liverpool 3 is already being mooted.

Liverpool waters will go ahead as is with alterations to.buolding design etc ; it won't go back the drawing board to.accomodate a stadium

Outline planning permission is nothing, it can be changed but I don't believe Peel want a stadium there anyway, I think they're on record saying that. The port at Seaforth had to build Liverpool 2 because of the widening of the Panama Canal it was about to be left behind, that was first muted by MDHC and it's taken this long. Liverpool 3 hasn't got no chance if they don't sort out the road network getting into the docks, and building on Rimrose Valley is already facing opposition. Let's see if Peel come back with investment from Mipim and not offices that they promise but never get built because investors aren't buying into the idea. If people don't hand Peel money to build their projects they just sit tight because they're in for the long game. I can't see it happening but who knows what goes on behind the scenes?

I know, I've been involved with certain aspects for the last 7 years of L2. The CPO'S have been raised on properties on derby road to widen that going to wards the city centre and the train network is massively increasing due to the new biomass centre, the low c02 route is one of their drivers for L2 that's why they're ploughing more money into more non road networks to Salford. The L2 has been developed for triple E vessels, not the reported post panamax

But back to the stadium, you've answered your own question. They don't want it, never did that's why I said they won't go back to the drawing board on a £5.5bn project

Interesting, thanks for that.

PH have had meetings though with some of the parties who were interested in acquiring Everton in recent months.
