New Everton Stadium

Best post in the last two pages. ;)

It looked like the council were dragging their feet around July/August, but we now know the club decided to work on some (not small) amendments which were only submitted a couple of months ago. A few weeks of new consultation followed, and they'll need a bit of time to take all that on board too.

And on top of all that we know the club have submitted a separate application for remedial works. Things are moving. It's not like nothing has happened since last December. The delay is because of the club making changes to make the scheme better, not just the council being slow. And then you throw covid in as well. Things are going ok imo, and I'll still say that even if it gets called in.

{resists urge to post 'calm down' gif}

Like that, well done for staying calm. This project is very big compared to other stadia which are just extensions.

Our new stadium will be a catalyst for further dev't in this part of our City. Pity that the council cannot attract some big manufacturing concerns to the City.

I think the amendments significantly improve the project especially the removal of the multi-storey, the improved stepped plaza and the simplified brickwork.

It will make the Stadium more aesthetically pleasing and improve our chances of getting the plans approved so it is a win-win. As a fanbase we need to realise that this stadium in this location was always going to be more challenging. A perfect example is your club's Stadium.

Out of town generic Stadiums are much easier to pull off. Both Spurs and Everton have gone for a bespoke Stadium in unique surroundings and that is always going to be more problematic but hopefully well worth the effort and wait.

As a Spurs fan I bet you are delighted you missed out on the London Stadium. As Everton fans we will be glad we missed out on Kirkby.

I'm glad we stayed at home but if we had got the Olympic Stadium we was gonna knock it down and build a football stadium so it wouldn't have been as bad (and offering the government the £200 million would have saved the tax payer hundreds of millions more.)
We also said that we would build an athletics stadium at Crystal Palace.

How far is the Olympic stadium from White Hart lane?

I hope we hear something by the end of the week, whether that be the decision has been delayed or not.

The lack of communication from all involved is just not right.

I was struck by the importance of stadium acoustics more than ever yesterday.

As much as it’s nice to think 2,000 fans sounded like 20,000 because Evertonians are loud, the design of the Gwladys Street is probably the main factor. It bounces the sound around and acts as an amplifier.

It always seems loud when you’re in certain parts of the ground - at the back of the Lower Gwladys or the Lower Bullens, for instance - but for me at least, it’s only when the stadium is stripped right down in terms of capacity that the reverb is so noticeable on a stadium-wide level. Normally it just seems loud on TV because 40,000 Evertonians are noisy - but yesterday that obviously wasn’t the reason.

So I’m pleased all that talk about acoustics from Dan Meis means it’s a real focus in the new ground design. The closer we can get to the Goodison amplifier, the better.

The GP acoustics were massively helped when the roof over Gwladys St was extended. Prior to that it was a hell of a job to get a full sound without the whole end being involved.
The Kop had the best acoustics of any stadium. It would be no exaggeration to say that on occasion standing in the Anfield Rd End you'd actually hear the single voice of the Kopite starting the chant, such was the carry.

I could be wrong but I think they might have amplified the noise from our end last night/had more microphones positioned there? I only say that because there´s been times I´ve been in the Street End and thought it was absolutely rocking only for it not to sound that way on TV.

Don’t think it was amplified. Usually the tv companies turn the sound down at Goodison and turn it up at the pit.
