New Everton Stadium

The club/council have mentioned three separate times during this pandemic when we can expect the decision on planning: early summer, September and December.

It’s a poor showing if we don’t get the decision this month and the pandemic excuse doesn’t wash given they’ve said them dates whilst the pandemic is still ongoing and we’ve all adapted to a different way of working.

I disagree - I think that is precisely what's happening at the moment. It suits the club to delay until we have a clear route out of Covid. Club wont be quite a direct as you mention, but I would suspect that's what is happening through some of the back channels. LCC dont want to come out with a big announcement until they have clear time-lines and likewise the club. Covid is simply to big a variable unfortunately

Why would the club submit an amendment to move things on quicker if they want to slow things down. My mind is blown. Answers on a postcard.

You know we won't get a decision this month, there's no more planning meetings.
I think all of the arrests over the last few months are having an impact on top of the pandemic too. I think I read the government are looking into everything because of them.

But now a spokesperson for the council has told Building that the meeting had been pushed back to “some time in the New Year”

That is worryingly vague on the part of officialdom. And zip the club can do about it unfortunately.

i think it's all about a touch of PR - "do a little" but in all honesty if the club were massively pushed to build tomorrow, there are plenty of avenues they could have persued. Creating public pressure, calling on LCC to accellerate the approval etc etc.

It's purely my take, but it suits them to sit back and have us all wondering why LCC are so slow at the moment. No-one in their right minds commits to a starting to build a new stadium tomorrow, you need to see the post covid roadmap (Football funding, crowd safety, new stadium requirements), you wouldn't build a hotel, an airport or a theatre at the moment and a stadium falls into that bracket sadly.

I have no doubt this stadium gets built and LCC & the club are both 100% committed to it, it is right for the club and the development of the city, it's economy and will be an iconic building, but will be a little while before we see the progress we hope for.

What's that got to do with a decision to build?

If your point was that construction would be slow due to supply chain issues or worker safety then that would be relevant. As it is we are simply looking a for a yay or nay.
A simple yay or nay is right.
PP is good for 3(?) yrs
If that's not long enough due to the on going situation(s) then its not looking good.

A council spokesman saying 'the volume of paperwork involved means it was never going to be done this year'

Sounds more like, 'weve dragged our heels because we're complete and utter amateurs and we were also hoping Everton would just grease fat Joes hairy palms but now we have to actually read this crap'

Scandalous that statement - so LCC giving us a date they knew they were never going to be able to meet!

This lot are absolute amateurs lol

Everyone knows where they stand. Job done.

Amendments are not even passed, though, for more public consultations.
