New Everton Stadium

i think it's all about a touch of PR - "do a little" but in all honesty if the club were massively pushed to build tomorrow, there are plenty of avenues they could have persued. Creating public pressure, calling on LCC to accellerate the approval etc etc.

It's purely my take, but it suits them to sit back and have us all wondering why LCC are so slow at the moment. No-one in their right minds commits to a starting to build a new stadium tomorrow, you need to see the post covid roadmap (Football funding, crowd safety, new stadium requirements), you wouldn't build a hotel, an airport or a theatre at the moment and a stadium falls into that bracket sadly.

I have no doubt this stadium gets built and LCC & the club are both 100% committed to it, it is right for the club and the development of the city, it's economy and will be an iconic building, but will be a little while before we see the progress we hope for.

There is nothing the club can do, they can moan about it but everyone knows with covid it was going to be difficult. Nothing PR about putting in a small request to start making the openings in the dock wall. That was a constructive way to circumvent waiting for a decision on the main application to get things started this year. The council are useless what can you do.

If they wanted to sit on their hands they would have left everything as was and just say they're waiting on the planning permission to come through.

I honestly dont get how the pandemic has affected planning so much. Not like they are dealing with the actual issues caused by COVID and as key workers they'll have been working through both lockdowns and can easily do skype/zoom meetings.

Just inept.

Nope hard to understand on the outside but I suppose they would go visit the places for these major developments. Harder to get reports from other sources perhaps.

LCC never had any remote working infrastructure in place. When lockdown happened the staff were told to work off an old ICT desktop connection service which kept failing

so yes, they were affected

Problem with the club is that we know what Kenwright is like and he won't want anyone 'rocking the boat' so to speak, the chances of the club putting any pressure on LCC for an answer are pretty remote id say, we will sit it out and wait sadly.

Not entirely sure what you expect Kenwright, or anybody else for that matter to do to 'push' the planning committee along.

Everton can not influence the decision once the application has been submitted, nor can they be seen to, by foul means or fair. There are many on here that seem to worry that BMD will get caught up in the wrongs of politicians within the city, while simultaneously questioning why we haven't pressured them into making a decision faster.

Que sera sera. The stadium will be built.
