New Everton Stadium

We all need to try and get any pre conceived ideas and prejudices regarding a new site3 out of our minds (easier said than done , I know)!

We only get one shot at this and it is critical that we get it right.

Chances of it ticking every box for everyone = Zero.

With the new man in the hot seat, I'd suggest we have never been in a better position to achieve this and move on to greater things. Its the trying to remain patient piece that will be the trickiest but I'm confident that this time we are not likley to be getting some half arsed solution forced upon us.

Nail on head.

Last bit is key.

From what I can gather our approach to SC is different to DK (reliant on Tesco) and WHP (reliant on council).

Here we are coming to table with our own project and ideas and seemingly have some confidence we can fund it as long as lcc can help with securing the site.

We'll see, but moshiri's influence has certainly seemed to move the goalposts and enable use to talk about a very different kind of prospect

Surely if you're working off a blank canvass you can build your own bars and shops anyway, I can't see that being a problem. Just make them accessible and people can use them all week making the club money.

I agree. We should have free reign to make what we want. And what we want should be the continuation of what we have.

Devil's advocate....speaking of canvasses.

You have a blank canvass. Youre a painter. Youre told if you want your painting (if you can paint it) hung in the gallery so you want to paint the best picture you've ever painted.
Now every brush stroke matters, and what's more you have your canvass surrounded by other canvasses who are all waiting to be painted up and mounted on the same hook in the wall that you want to hang yours on, and theyve all painted before and have the paintings to prove it.

Then let's not forget you have some other angry bugger who's already got a whole gallery in full swing across the street and he's already taking paying guests to see his canvases.

How confident are you in your painting skills now in that case?

Me, I think we should take a brush and paint regardless, are we losing out? No, splash that [Poor language removed] on as if you're an Evertonian and you know there's hundreds of thousands of people who'll appreciate the effort.
Just not the Kirkby blueprints, and ideally not toward Kirkby but away from it.

Either way, I think we're gonna get the result of a cold hard financial analysis, because Farhad will do what will see us right in the long term...this being his investment and all

I trust him but I don't trust him. Everton that.

PS: does anyone know the cure for schizophrenia?

I'm quite open to any idea.
I also trust our new shareholder to do something that will benefit the club long-term.
He's not a scorched Earth shareholder like Gaydamak, who saw Portsmouth relegated three successive seasons. He's not Glazer who saw Man U stunted until his inheritance fund has hit the magic 9 figures. He's not the lamentable Randy Lerner who, even tho his name is a joke, surprised everyone by actually being nothing more than a joke.

Farhad Moshiri wouldn't buy your car if it was never gonna pass its MOT. He wouldn't lend you a tenner if you only had a pound to your name.

He'll do something. What he does will probably make sound financial sense for the long term future of the club.
I know, putting all my eggs in one basket, and I don't like the SC site. But if he built something there which knocked the socks off other grounds, and worked out deals to make it pay for itself without costing us in higher prices (including travel to and from please Farhad) then I'd be on board.

Earlier fume aside, and I still stand by that btw, if Everton moved would you stay at Goodison or would you go where Everton are?
How could you stay at Goodison if Everton moved? There'd be nowt there!

The whole of the SC option stinks of the small time kenwright regime.

Bill "Dont work Moshiri, we,'ll stick a couple of batman lights on this thing and they will fall for it again"

Peel own bloody every part of the docks? Was just messing around looking at the size of Huskisson Dock

The idea of a club at the docks in the middle of massive warehouses, could have a boss boho feel to it. Random resturants, art houses, cinema, bars.

We know nothing about it yet mate. Let's wait and see

No we don't but what we can deduct is that it,s price first and location second.

We are Everton.
We should own the city by building in the heart of the city not being shoved out to a brown site because it,s suits the top and bottom line.

When will we stop thinking small time as a club.

You're straight onto the M57 from there which takes you North and South in the City and that links up with the other motorways, or up and down the East Lancashire Road so crowd dispersal may be strong in their minds. Even Stonebridge Lane takes you North and South, maybe this is the logic behind it?

Sorry, who's straight onto the M57? Not me, I don't own a car. I rely on public transport. That is why this site doesn't work for me. It's 1950's "get out of town" thinking. The kind of thinking that almost ruined Liverpool. Any site chose for the next 100 years for Everton FC has to be accessible by public transport (buses and train). Build next to a motorway and you are guaranteed one thing; gridlock. Let's learn from the Yanks who tried that and realised the folly of it. Most new stadiums built in the US in the last 2 decades are downtown and served by mass transit as they call it over there. This in the land where the car is king. Build as close to the city centre as possible. The area around Sandhills is a good location. Well served by bus and train, it's about 2 miles north of the city centre. A quick cab from the city centre wouldn't be too expensive. For people who do insist on driving (whether out of habit or necessity) there are lots of business around the Great Howard Street area who would gladly give up their car parking for Saturday games and evening kick offs, bit like around Old Trafford and Wembley.

This is way too sensible.
