New Everton Stadium

...and after 3 weeks of being there it was kicked into the long grass...and now, I suspect, we know why.

There will be no rush to judge this stadium scheme.

Any decision is open ended. I really couldn't see a scenario where we get a decision this side of summer. I'd imagine we're heading toward a public inquiry.

I very very much doubt that.

But then, all I did for 20 years was work for a company who are global leaders in commercial property builds and management.

Well why you bed wetting then?
Why would I be bed wetting? I have no interest in whether they lock Anderson up for years.

You can get annoyed all you want, but what I'm saying is spot on: this stadium scheme isn't getting any short term decision. This is almost certainly on the back burner now for many months to come.

IMO we'll see a long public inquiry on this. The situation in terms of the council and any large contracts is toxic.

When I read, from local posters who have a clue about all this bung stuff, its clear its about local businesses having close ties with certain councillors, and getting fat as a result.

Serious builds use serious players, from start to finish.

Meis Architects
Laing Rourke
Buro Happold
Pattern Design
Bank of China
Peel Holdings
Everton FC

Six multi million pound global organisations involved.

The future wellbeing of this club is 100% wrapped up in being able to inhabit the new stadium in double quick time.
So much happening with the hyped European Super League means that for us to be able to get the slightest whiff of participation in years to come, means we'll need the facilities to grace the competition.

We have no contracts with LCC.

I would be astonished if its nothing more than the SOS asking mandarins if the build has any links to the plod investigation, (If Yes, bad news, granted). They say No, and everyones hands are clean, stadium wise.

The company I worked for wanted to move in India, years ago, and were bogged down by being asked for bribes, so they threatened to back out. They ended up compromising and paying half for a school to be built.

Thats how it works. Thats why when Persimmon want to build some new houses, they have to agree to pay for some attendant stuff; roads, or a youth centre, that sort of stuff.

Then why would you state this morning: "if you were a Government inspector or whatever they are called, being asked to run Liverpool cos of corruption allegations, wouldnt the largest, and controversial (WHS) project on the cards attract your interest?"

Wouldn't such "interest" greatly delay this scheme and have it stirring down the barrel of a public inquiry?

We had one for the Kirkby stadium scheme...and that (a calamity for the Local Area Plan) is looking like a walk in a fragrant park compared to the noxious smells coming off this council and its commercial activities right now.

We are unfortunately embroiled. Like to or not, we are.

No one wants the ESL

They have facilitated, advised and acterd as go betweens between the club and private bodies in this scheme...they seconded people to work with the parties looking to bring the scheme to fruition. They set up a financial vehicle to offer the club a loan at one point. The council are right at the heart of the project because of the regeneration aspect. Do you think a government department investigating the council can ignore that? I find it hard to believe they'll see it as no concern to their enquiries. It will need serious attention.

Well, for one, I am reasonably sure that was before I was schooled in the level of low level construction work that many in Liverpool have raised their eyes at for years.

And for two, I am reasonably sure I posted that yesterday, before said schooling.

Like I might be wrong, and EFC are up to our necks in brown envelopes all over the shop. But apparently, the concerns of plod are more along the lines of local firms getting rich via LCC.

It's not my claim that EFC are involved in corruption. My point is that the whole affair will cause delays and a likely inquiry for the stadium scheme.

Yes I haven’t been long on the forum but have been reading your posts long enough to think you have a downer on the stadium. My apologies if I’ve offended you though.
He is on a downer about the stadium pal, because if it does go tits up then he can tell everyone how he Davek was right all along and Moshiri is a Carpetbagger after all. Hint of wrongdoing off the council and Dave is working overtime trying to link Everton and our stadium into it.

And I think you are incorrect.

It doesnt help, I will concede, but the whole police thing is about 2 bit companies getting fat off 2 bit LCC officials. The partners involved in the stadium are multi billion, global property folk. All LCC has done is publicly support it, (and the wider projects), and pass PP, after an exhausting consultation process.
