New Everton Stadium

The docks would be perfect commercially. It would be great to have a dock tramline.. It would be a great financial boost to a much neglected area. Flow towards Speke, through edge lane, or north to m57 would have to improve. I would love it to have a walk up to it, fresh food stalls, rides for the kids, small stands to give a platform to local bands. Something that would benefit the city on match day, not just Everton, and make it a viable tournament stadium.
The problem with the docks ,anywhere very close to the river, is that access is up to standard from only three sides. Traffic is already a nightmare when theres a big event at the(relatively) small Echo Arena. Access to Edge Lane could be improved, and access is already good if a site were available somewhere close to the Bootle/Aintree end of the M58 (Bootle Golf Club? Anything in that area?) because there is good access to Aintree for the Grand National.

There could be match day parking outside the city centre.. Another opportunity for stalls, & to build atmosphere on the buses in?

The land swap thing would take the sting out of any controversy regarding us building on public park land, and would be especially relevant if we are moving to Walton Hall Park.

Doubt it. The land where Goodison Park sits would have to be sold to somebody else to help fund the stadium.

It's in hock up to Bill's eyeballs.

Any sale of Goodison will go to pay off the note on it with nowt left to fund moving the furniture to the new stadium

I'm strangely excited for Tuesday. Have a feeling we may see some design elements that could be implemented on several sites. A single tier kop like from the Chelsea Battersea stadium would be awesome.

As for sites (relatively) close to Goodison and within the city boundaries, there's a large site on the corner of Stopgate Lane/Long Lane in L9. It's opposite some playing fields and looks quite big, however it's surrounded by concrete fencing so it's difficult to judge it's actual size.

Next door to Taskers.

Looks a bit tight. Goodison barely fits:

Tuesday? What happends today??
Shareholders general meeting tonight where Elstone will be speaking and revealing that the club are in talks about talks about 'exciting' ideas about 'possible' new stadium delivery developments that involve 'a number of parties' which are 'ongoing' and though nothing can be firmly announced at the moment he is 'absolutely committed' to exploring all avenues regarding partners and funding for a new stadium.

In other words, nothing will happen today.
