New Everton Stadium

A lot seem to be throwing in 'it's near a railway line' to ferry fans back & forth to a stadium, from my endeavours in trying to get a job in the rail industry I've become a bit more aware of just how much is entailed in what to others seem minor things. A subtle change to a timetable has a knock on effect all the way across the network, to put on a service that is servicing a football stadium would involve a massive amount of things which would be up to a Rail Franchise to or be willing to provide.

Extra Trains needed because there aren't trains sat in sidings doing nothing.
A Driver & Conductor for each extra train.
As said timetable changes involve a huge amount of knock on changes, so any fixture changes at shortish notice i.e. for tv, cup matches, replays etc throw another spanner in those works.

The only way around it really is if it's a station that is used all of the time, but even then the extra services for matches cause problems.

So unless Edge Lane has an existing regular service to serve a stadium & ferry fans every 5/10 minutes then forget it because Merseyrail aint going to invest in all the extra infrastructure required.

I think the City & Everton missed a massive opportunity with The Commonwealth Games, I think it was the 2022 games that had no bidders until Durban jumped in at the last minute. There would have been money available as it was in Manchester & there'd have been a stadium & possibly a Light Rail system like the Metro Link solving that problem straight away.

First time i went i was in the nose bleeds - was ridiculous.
have only been on the tour of the nou camp.never been to a match there but I was looking up tickets one day few years ago and the seats at the very back were described as great for viewing tactical formations which tells you all you need to know about what you see from the very back seats haha

I've been, in 2009, did the full stadium tour, it is an immense stadium already, will be even better once this is finished. but I agree that being sat towards the back is like watching Sensible Soccer, the players are so far away, but it's about the atmosphere more than anything.

Still makes me laugh that they have a 20,000 seater across the road for the "B" team to play in! Which is better than some premierleague grounds

For us I think the only option will be to move, we need a multifunctional stadium, which will pay for itself on non matchdays and for that, ideally you need a bigger footprint than we have and I can't see the council doing CPO's for us

"Atmosphere"?? At the Camp Nou? It's non-existent. I saw an el Classico there in 2006 and it was like a library. I even stood up and celebrated fat Ronaldo scoring for Real to liven things up in my block (front of middle tier, right behind the goal) but no-one took the bait.

And they're binning off the Mini Estadi at the end of next season, and will move their B games to their training base. I'm planning on going to the Mini this coming season before it goes.

Especially when they already have the Echo arena in a prime location

Anderson comments chime with what I said a while back - WHP not happening and we're looking at Stonebridge Cross, amongst others.

My understanding is that Anderson might have formally announced WHP being off the table before purdah kicked in - but then Cllr Kemp staged his protest there, and it would have looked as if he was backing down because of that and been seen as a victory for Lib Dem - when in fact it's long been Labour's plan to not pursue WHP for Everton.
Only reason it's still on the table is Anderson's involvement.

The fans are different to UK fans, maybe more so at Barcelona, then in other Spanish stadiums, the home fans expect to win and many of them do sit back and don't make much noise. I was sat near the away fans, they were a bit rowdy, so there was a bit of back and forth with the home fans.
