I wonder what the doom mongers will obsess over when the new stadium is finally completed and the club has its new home just as planed. Talk about a big changes! Kin' hell, some people have made cryarsing about the stadium (mostly based on apocalyptic scenarios that exist only in their own minds) their entire personality. Oh I'm sure they'll just find another topic to endlessly "worry" about (or pretend to worry about, in a cringeworthy effort to maintain their little online personas). They better find a good topic though because they've set the bar very high over Bramley-Moore and I can't see how they'll be able to follow it up!

Banks like a certain amount of security too before lending out large amounts of money to a certain project. Us flirting with relegation is not what you could call 'security', especially considering the financial gulf between the Championship & the Premier League.

You say that, but get relegated one year (parachute payment) and promoted the next (especially through the play-offs) and we'd be rolling in money again

That announcement from Rotheram looks to be all about him heading off greif he might get for keeping public cash at a project now under a cloud.

He's got a brass neck going on about Everon's sponsors by the way. The Kopite rat would never have opened his worthless trap if it had been Liverpool.

Dave read it, it said Everton have turned down the offer of a £30m loan because they have found an alternative loan arrangement in the private sector, stop scaremongering.

Does that say the club have found alternative private funding for the £30m, but still taking the £15m grant?

Yeah it did, a grant is not a loan as you know, but according to that the way I read it, we are taking the grant but not the loan.

It will be endless years of 'should've stayed/redeveloped at Goodison and spent the money on players.'

That was my concern.

That 'kin rat Rotheram is desperate to distance himself from the stadium....AND loving getting digs in about Everton being "right" to cut its sponsorrship ties.

Reading between the lines it could easily be read as a statement prepared in advanced for any negative announcement on the stadium so he does't get damaged politically.
