New Everton Stadium

Goodison devloped or the docks is all we should be thinking about.

One thing that could help the docks is the old train tunnel that runs from Edge Hill to Waterloo Dock, still there disused, could easily be bought back into use, trains direct from Manchester...etc to the docks.

Bad news for the club then because the majority of the fans will not accept SC.

This could be a very major point. Kirkby got grudging support because we were skint. We are no longer skint, money is flowing into the club like never before. The players have had their big pay rises and gotten Finch Farm, the owners have all made millions in selling to Moshiri, it's about bleeding time that the fans got something......as well as some nice shiny trophies......

Ha he club should never offer us a choice around there things - or rather control the leaking/media thing better, if they just came out and said we have a site, there wouldnt be half the hassle.

Now there will be protest groups at the most or general sense of inadequcy around this.

Fairly Everton.

Club needs to take the lead on this issue through the media.

And we can bring back the overhead railway whilst we're at it!

The fact that we're staging a boxing match probably isn't gonna go down too well, because that probably sets a precedent for Everton and Liverpool to take some fights away from there. I think the darts and most bands would still use Echo Arena.

theres boxing in the echo arena the week after. the bellew fight is a one off.

We've already seen what clubs like West Ham can do if the pricing is correct.

They've sold 50,000 season tickets. We certainly have a bigger fan base than West Ham.

Yes there is a "build it and they will come" approach to football these days. Also the work the club has done, with discounted kids tickets has cemented a layer of Evertonians in spite of not winning much. Lets put it this way, we sell out all but the obstructed seats in a season with our worst home record ever. If the ground was 60k without obstructed view I think we'd average high 40's. If it was a new state of the art stadium on the river we would sell 60k I have little doubt about that.

I hope it,s not a funding issue stopping us going forward with the waterfront because if it is then Mush needs to bring on board some heavyweight investors and get rid of the old guard.

The Waterfront would be absolutely stunning, but I cant see it. What if Stonebridge Cross is the most feasible option and could be deliverable in 3 years?

Would be like us to have any new stadium which the club needs to go forward scrapped because fans want it elsewhere... I anticipate KEIOC are waiting with baited breath.

I'm hearing still no movement from the club on either site yet - but could be as much as 80/20 in favour of Stonebridge vs waterfront in terms of likelihood as it stands. (echo have just published an article suggesting SC more likely too: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/could-new-everton-stadium-help-11344102)
Bit concern over Waterfront would be travel infrastructure. Whilst we do have a large 'walk up' fan base, there would still be a huge amount of parking required for a 50+k seat stadium, and would lead to massive congestion around the area.
Stonebridge would also require massive parking but there is the space out there to build purpose built parking, and it has good motorway links.
Also the fact that the land is readily available for development and is in Council ownership - and in one of the Mayor's development areas in Stonebridge, so little/no planning permission needed. Whereas Peel own the land on the waterfront so would be a more costly and difficult negotiation.

Sorry to be bearer of "bad" "news"!
The City Centre is the most accessible point of the City and it's surrounding suburbs as it's the hub for public transport.

When you look around Goodison the 'official' car park in SP has how many spaces? The rest of the parking is served by entrepreneurial private sector solutions, and that's an area that is far more inaccessible than the City Centre. The same private sector solutions would solve a more central location, and that's before you started thinking about something like a park and ride from the outskirts.

I think the transport reason isn't strong enough to rule out the waterfront over an out of town industrial estate.

SC is the path of least resistance and the one that Kenwright and Co would have almost certainly plumped for, but as a longer term development for the future of EFC, then it doesn't even come close to what the waterfront could deliver for the club - and ultimately - it's stakeholders......

Eh? Bands are ALWAYS playing football stadiums. Comedians less so, sure.
I don't think many of the bands that are looking to play the Echo are suddenly going to switch to an open air venue that's at least 4 times bigger. Yes we would attract some bands that want to play massive gigs but I don't think we'd often be competing directly with the Echo arena.

We've waited a long time already. The 3 years is what the Mayor wants, I'm not arsed if it takes 5 or10 years if it's on the Waterfront.......
