New Everton Stadium

Perhaps not, but if we were to be hosting bands regularly then it's unlikely the Echo could host a big gig at the same time. You'll also get bands who are currently doing two nights at the Echo who may be big enough to do a single night at the new stadium.

There's definitely plenty of scope for complaint from the Echo Arena.

The Arena is owned by Liverpool City Council.

It would be greatly dissapointing to go with SC after all this time and whats happened around the issue, ideally the waterfront would be iconic and real declaration on intent, but i can see the obstacles. It would be a pity if it was decided to go against a waterfront site without even trying to tackle the obstacles. I think the fan base would put up with delays and even restrictions on the field if this was a long term project, which i would say it would likely to be. I have a sense it wont happen though. Im a bit dissapointed if as indicated our new senior management team are taking a pragmatic rather then an inspired approach to this.

Regardless, i have a couple of issue with Stonebridge in the sense thats its further away from the city centre, i feel strongly that we need to be closer to the city centre then Walton not further away. Lets be honest we are living in a city, with a marketing/commercial giant in relative international footballing terms. In the battle for hearts, minds and footfall we need a uniuqe selling point - our identity needs to be linked with the City- building on the peoples club label, i want people that arrive in the City Centre to identify Everton as the club in the City not on the outskirts, that you have to plan to get to either in Walton or SC, neither do i want a stadium flanked by an Aldi or Tesco express. even in Walton you feel part of a community walking to the game along terraced houses. If SC becomes a reality we will loose something in terms of spirit and soul. Ive long been an advocate of the need for a new ground, but i think the SC site is just wrong for me, id nearly go so far as to stay in Goodison.

Still watching Mr Moshiri.

Having a runnng track would be a disaster.

Especially Joe Anderson saying it could host athletics all the time, meaning we couldn't move the stands closer after the common wealth games.

Really do not want this

The elite athletes will be well served around there, there's McDonalds, KFC and even a frankie and bennys and the locals will see that they're up to scratch at sprinting if the Echo is to be believed. The Red Echo are trying to push a site that for years they've singlehandedly destroyed through stories about the crocky crew.

So EFC get 2 choices 1 is the iconic waterfront stadium which people really want, downfall being we have to put up with a running track, 2 Stonebridge cross with no running track but really state of the art stadium and surrounding facilities, which one?

we don't have to put in a running track at all, it's Evertons stadium not the councils so yes we'll go with number 1.

Which ever one Everton decide on rather than what the Council tell us we can have, thanks.

Can the Council stop Peel selling their land to us? I doubt it. Only thing that they can do is affect the planning if it got to that, but Fat Pants Joe would lose an awful lot of votes if he saw to that, certainly with past accusations levelled at them about favouring the others despite his claims to being a blue.

the fact here is that, in the past for however may years, we have relied on the LCC to provide us with space, partners and permission to do anything in the city as we couldn't do it without them. Now, we have the ability to do it on our own, to our own rules, Joe is trying to get onto our coat-tails now to help his cause. He can, frankly, do one.

Basic summary I think:

Option 1: Stonebridge - cheaper, easier, quicker to deliver, lots of Council support, potentially less profitable in the long run, good transport links in a location no-one wants to have the stadium

Option 2: Waterfront - more expensive, slower to deliver, iconic, long term more profitable due to wealth of possibilities, more difficult transport links in a location every blue wants a stadium

Bottom line is how much is Moshiri willing to put up. If it's an amount which means we're flying by the seat of our pants and needing favours, then we'll be relying on the council and likely to be steered towards Stonebridge as a result. Plus side is we'd be out of Goodison sooner.

If money is basically no object then we should be pulling out all the stops and making the waterfront happen. All problems - transports etc - are surmountable IF the money is there to overcome. Downside is it may take longer to deliver.

Mr Moshiri - over to you.

If the club and LCC collective minds are made up on Stonebridge then realistically that's where it will be or stay at undeveloped GP. I would love the waterfront over a draery industrial zone but it will come down to hard talking about time and money.

As regards all the posts about parking and public transport problems, back to Dublin examples....

Croke Park regularly holds crowds of 83,000 in middle of north inner city with damn all car parking or public transport within a mile of the ground. There is one rail station close to CP that only serves one line to the west. Stations for south, south west south east or north of the country from where thousands regularly come, are a distance away..

People park in the centre or outskirts and walk. Same with regards to buses, tram and light rail. There are police cordons all around the stadium within 500 yards so with few exceptions (Clonliffe College has parking for a few hundred cars at a fee) everyone else walks from the city centre area or other areas within 20-30 minutes of Croker having either parked, got a tram or rail; inter city train stations are even further away.

I live in Kilkenny (90 miles) and I park in city centre then a twenty minute walk will have me at the ground.

The only public transport that goes right to the Aviva is the DART (light rail). Again, most car parking and buses are at least 20-30 minutes walk away.

The Three Arena is within a couple of stops of the Aviva - it is just across the river - but I don't see any issue with Three screaming foul if there is a major fixture in Aviva at the same time as a major concert. There will be enough fans for both events provided the attraction is good. Anyway tickets for concerts etc go on sale months in advance.

The issue here is how much and when. If we mess this up as a club again....I give up ever seeing Everton in a fit for 21st century stadium - I absolutely love Goodison but am realistic.

While people are talking about traffic congestion in the city if we go the docks, they are forgetting if we move to Stonebridge Cross, all those fans that come from Wales in coaches, through the tunnel from the Wirral, and from the south of the city such a Speke will have to go through the city center without stopping if we go out there. The docks gives extra options.
Least the docks can be walked to easily enough from the stations in town, but all that traffic will have to go right through the middle of town on the roads causing extra mayhem.

Also if the council want to use it for the commonwealth games etc then surely they would part fund the stadium?, which lets be honest would be massively attractive to the club
