New Everton Stadium

Meaning that not having to fund a stadium is (i) less capital intensive and (ii) he has more flexibility in purchasing the remaining shares whilst funding team and commercial development.

How many more shares do you think he wants to purchase? He currently has 17,465/35,000 (making 49.9%). How much more than 50% would he want to go? Can't see him wanting to touch the 7,000 or so shares in the hands of fans (if that is an accurate figure).

I don't have the precise figures with me but he has options to acquire BK, JW and Abercomby's remaining shares taking him to just over 75%.

I'm pretty sure he'll want to sweep up the remainder too.

He's going to have to find at least £550 million to buy the club outright, fund a stadium and a funding of a truly competitive team.

He has the resources to do that, whether he wants to bring in others at a later date we will have to wait and see.

This is something that has intrigued me since Moshiri came on board. I have read his personal wealth is somewhere approaching £1.3 BN. Clearly an extremely wealthy man by the standards of most of us, but modest in PL terms. He is not Roman Abramovich.

Would you see it as essential that he brings in other high net-worth investors in order to make us competitive with the so-called elite?

Forgive my ignorance, and it seems ungracious to be discussing someones personal wealth, but I would have no expectation of Moshiri that extends to his funding Everton as a personal project to a degree requiring in excess of 40% of his estimated wealth. Is that a fair/unfair assessment?

I would have thought that he would be looking at bringing in investors with similar available funding levels as himself tbh...

.... but I also doubt he will Invest 300m into the Club and thereby increase the value of the Club by 300m but only get 49% of that increase into his own pocket...and "giving" the rest of the value increase to other shareholders.... pretty sure there will be some sort of right issue if Mosh Invests anything in the Club... that or complete ownership. He is not stupid.

Thats an operational Canal. Not impossible, but extrememly impractical.

I think I'm right in saying this channel was originally formed by the partial infilling of the old dock i.e. the 'land' to the left of the channel as you look at the photo was part of the old dock but was filled in. A new channel alignment could be dug out closer to the river to the west to create a new canal link. Once the new channel is built the old channel could be in-filled. Not a big job but by moving the channel over you could would create one larger area instead of 2 smaller areas

Fair question - couple of things, don't put too much faith in the quoted 'wealth' figure, I've yet to see one that is in any way accurate, secondly we've no idea what his liquidity is or what his plans are with other assets he owns and thirdly he's had a pretty concentrated portfolio to date, so there's no reason why owning Everton and the % of his wealth that represents, should be viewed as unusual.

It would be easier to sell the naming rights to a waterfront stadium since it would be seen by so many more people - and could potentially be in every TV appearance/on every postcard of the city's skyline.

I wonder if UNESCO might have something to say about a waterfront stadium?

IIRC they (UNESCO) didn't like Peel's plans.

Jus' sayin'...

Unesco have no power whatsoever other than removing the world heritage status, the value of which I'm highly sceptical of.

"Do you fancy visiting Liverpool this year ? The docks have UNESCO world heritage status !"

Nope.

Oh right. You'd rather we didn't have world heritage status than did, then?

Happy fella you, aren't ya?

Bet you don't want the cruise liners coming here as well?
