New Everton Stadium

No, not how I see it, the Council want to see something of what we can now offer. The land he says they are letting go cheap, is currently giving them nothing at all. He no doubt has plans for many other parts of the Mayoral development but is struggling with Stonecross. His comment that Stadium designs are pretty easy to pick up is ridiculous. Anybody can design a stadium on Google Sketchup, but its a different matter altogether to build a suitable stadium for the occupants and the space. We don't want generic, we want bespoke.

Completely agree, it sounds like all he's offering us a cheap and cheerful option - thanks, but no thanks.

If the club wanted the Croxteth site they would have bought it by now. They clearly have an open offer from LCC to purchase it.

The fact they haven't & are talking to 'other landowners' - Peel Holdings regarding the dock site which isn't council-owned - illustrates that the dock site is the target not Croxteth. Hopefully Moshiri can do a deal with Peel.

I think this is a very positive development.

“I am restrained in talking openly about this while they are still talking to (other) landowners. But if they go for a council-owned site we can put in leisure to create jobs.

It looks like we're talking to Peel about the docks, Peel are always interested when it's private money on offer, that's how they operate. The skyscrapers will be binned in a flash hopefully.

But isn't it strange that now we actually CAN build a stadium on Walton Hall Park, it's suddenly off the table.

Very true. The type of stadium you'd build on a dock site would be totally different to the one you'd build in Stonebridge Cross.

Plus Anderson talks about restaurants and bars around a stadium - where would you rather eat/drink - by the river not far from town or in the middle of Croxteth? It's an absolute no brainer what would drive more tourism & regeneration.

When you look at the two sites at North Liverpool Waters and Stonebridge there's just no comparison. North Waters wins it hands down. I've read Joe Andersons comments and its clear he's pushing for Stonebridge. It ticks the boxes for him and LCC. Brownfield site used up = job done for them. The Council will facilitate the leisure side (eateries etc) around the ground. Suits the Council and may suit our purse if we 'only' have to pay for the stadium build.
Anderson says that Everton will have to pay for the land at Liverpool North Waters before we can even start. So that obviously puts the cost right up., You get what you pay for though and if it can be done, surely from a longer term perspective the North Waters site is better. But, it'll all come down to the £'s in the end.
Hoping and praying its the Waterfront and not Stonebridge. There's a huge difference between the two sites.

Great news and about time,no surprise everything is moving quickly now we have someone on the board with money.

He has seen 1st hand how to sort out a stadium out while he was a shareholder at Arsenal.

This is an excellent point.

The more difficult option isn't still being persued for the hell of it. It's because it's preferred.

You can bet Bill will be waxing lyrical about his 'Goodison on the Water', too.

I wouldn't be so sure that it was LCC who took it off the table. In all interviews he's been keen to state that it was a joint decision. I think it may well be a case of 'We can do better thanks' and we have the opportunity to build in a position that doesn't mean jumping through hoops to satisfy the red tape that greenbelt land brings. WHP was only offered to us as it suited LCC and gave them an option to revitalise an area. The game has changed.

Its also mentioned in the most current interview, that we no longer need retail partners, so a large part of what LCC were hoping to deliver as a package can be binned and our attentions turned on our own needs.

The costs will be higher but the revenue a waterfront stadium would bring in would be massive. Imagine staying in a hotel by the ground on the waterfront, or in Croxteth.
