New Everton Stadium

From Kenwright point of view, the failure of Kings Dock has always been the stick many have beaten him with. If Mosh can deliver a dock stadium now, maybe there's part of Kenwright who will feel he's put that issue to bed, so to speak. I think he's a man worried about his legacy, and his recent public comments about Mosh making all his dreams come true & how he'll do the same for the fans spoke volumes.

If the club wanted the Croxteth site they would have bought it by now. They clearly have an open offer from LCC to purchase it.

The fact they haven't & are talking to 'other landowners' - Peel Holdings regarding the dock site which isn't council-owned - illustrates that the dock site is the target not Croxteth. Hopefully Moshiri can do a deal with Peel.

I think this is a very positive development.
I really hope you're right.

The costs will be higher but the revenue a waterfront stadium would bring in would be massive. Imagine staying in a hotel by the ground on the waterfront, or in Croxteth.

Spot on and if you're a billionaire businessman you'd be building it at the docks too. Put it this way, billionaire businessmen who invest in Liverpool build their buildings by the waterfront, not in the middle of an undesirable area on the outskirts of the city centre. Look at all the investment in the waterfront over the past 20 years.

Liverpool is constantly full of students, tourists many who would be interested in seeing a PL game now imagine them asking where the frounds are
"See that big stand over there thats the RS ground take 10 minutes on the bus"
VISITOR=" OK what about the other premier club wheres that"
YOU= "well fo the bubble bus stops and wait 30 minutes for the number 19 then after a35 minute ride you can either get off a couple of stops early and mooch round £land or stay on and go wether spoons in kirkby but you can miss the ground its just by the big HB depot"

Whatever the motives behind what he is saying in that article, one thing stands out for me- We seemingly have made more progress on a stadium in 3 months than we have in 20 previously. It's very clear from what he has said that the club are moving quickly on the new stadium and it suggests on a basic level at least, moshiri and his people have put the financial package in place to ensure we aren't begging someone else to build it for us which gives us a much better negotiating position.

Exactly mate. If you can do it then speculate to accumulate. This decision is going to impact on us as a club, fan base, legacy etc etc for several generations to come.

When you put it like that it makes perfect sense. Getting my hopes up now!

You are right to say that we can't ignore UNESCO. I don't think taking an adversarial stance will help us. Yes a stadium could probably bring in more money but what the WHS stuff is about a much longer view. It is comparing apples with pears and people see you can't put a price on that. It would be very damaging for Evertons brand if we were seen to be destroying a central part of the City of Liverpool's history and the reasoning of having more money won't ease public perception.

The Council will also not back any plan that sees us played off against them. It is a needless risk. If the want to do it properly it will open a dialogue with UNESCO and make it clear that we are looking to add not detract from the WHS. As I've indicated a well placed donation, perhaps an honory box at the stadium and making them a partner would go a long way. Linking the new ground to the tradition of the Mersey would be the key.

A well-thought out, well-reasoned post.

I don't think Moshiri had anything to do with The Emirates , it was opened in 2006 and he bought his shares in 2007 !
As for Peel and Liverpool Waters this weekend should see planning go in for a 34 storey tower on Princes Dock , my point being Peel and the council want to create a cluster of towers around Leeds St and the old King Eddy pub , the northern docks is an afterthought and Has been derelict and empty for 40+ years now.
Peel had investors from China lined up but they have all bailed and are gonna have to build there flagship office block on Liverpool Waters with their own money and no tenants (Google William Jessop House)
I personally think Peel would be made up with this , especially if Moshiris mates get involved with other new builds on the site , it only has outline planning consent as well so no problem there !
The biggest stumbling block could be that Whittaker and his family , Peels owners , are massive Kopites !

Just seen a good shout on Twitter there.

A stadium on the waterfront would attract big companies for naming rights. A firm being able to slap their name on the river side of the stadium would be huge.
