New Everton Stadium

True..but something is defo happening

Yep, generally political positioning and a lot of bluster.

Moshiri was always going to be looking at ALL options available as soon as he arrived, as he sees the ground issue as a major one, also one that increases the value of his investment. There are very few realistic options in Liverpool and Joe Anderson is just trying to get us to go with him so that LCC benefit to the maximum that they can.

At the end of the day we need a stadium. Do the sponsors care where we are located, will the players care where we are? Will the VIp crowd care we are located

The waterfront sound great but if we can't pull this off, we need to look at alternatives

There's been a tremendous amount of work done with Chinese investors and they are actively investing in many parts of the City. Work is still continuing and there is still a lot of interest in the Wirral and Liverpool Waters.

Not in conjunction with peel, or on their waterfront portfolio AFAIA.

These links are a few years old now, but there was something in the "Rotten Boroughs" section of 'eye' a few months back, regarding Sam Wa Minerals & Stella Shiu which raised even more questions.

Imagine taking an important client on a corpy to Everton, hoping to win some business...and you take them to some arsewater brownfield site somewhere near the M57. Yes they would care.

Of course they care.

Say you've got two options... Sponsor an arena in Crotexth or on the Liverpool Waterfront, theres only one place they would choose. Liverpool waterfront.

I would suggest that every single one of them would care - and more importantly I care too !

Excellent post and puts the whole thing in perspective really.
The whole thing may still depend on how much backing we can get from Liverpool City Council. Personally, I would prefer us to have a stadium in Liverpool Waters, but I can see that Croxteth has some advantages - more space available, easier to get planning permission, closer to the motorway network, cheaper(?). Ultimately, if we had a choice between a 55,000 seater stadium on the Stonebridge site or a 45,000 seater stadium in Liverpool Waters that was more expensive and had a longer lead time, it would be an interesting choice to make.

If there is ambition to make the team a regular top four, 45,000 is nowhere near enough.

All depends on the quality of the development at SC and the stadium built there and if done properly it can regenerate an a complete hole into a plush part of town ( think the Olympic village Stratford ).

The waterfront would be better so if we can get a good sized quality stadium after buying land then great if not what other options and SC should be seen as that.

I'm just glad that genuine progress has been made on this finally the end might be in site

The new home for International Rescue...a best selling toy with little footballers flying off in spaceships to rescue people.......

We should've kept Naismith & dressed him up to look like John Tracy (TB5) To promote the toys....

Has to be 60000.

West Ham are moving into a 60000 stadium & have sold 52000 season tickets.

In no way are West Ham bigger than us or have more support. London isn't a factor either because there's arguably more competition for leisure pounds down there.

New stadiums ALWAYS attract increased support. Man City added 17000 fans to their average gate.

We are a big club that regularly got 50000+ up to the 1980s, until capacity was reduced. Our problem is very old fashioned facilities and thousands of obstructed view seats. This would change in a new stadium. We need to keep pace with the likes of West Ham & Spurs.
We were nowhere near that unfortunately mate, not by a long way

Edit: Misread that as regularly got average attendances of 50k+ mate

There's also more leisure pounds going round in London though, especially at the prices WHU are offering for season tickets.
