The council wouldn't sell it. There are 2 conference centres and the arena, and they bring a lot of income into the city.Couldnt we buy the arena as well? Stadium for larger events and arena for the smaller ones.
Agree mate. The revenue generation potential of a Waterfront stadium would be significantly higher than one on a brownfield site miles out of town, I think that's a given mate.
Whether the increased cost of the build and thus the increased funding costs could be balanced by the increment is the key factor - combined with whether the owner is prepared to take a longer term view. As a club with that sort of facility - that was also competing well on the pitch, would (you'd think) have to offer a higher potential value as a business over time.
Depends which bit of the waterfront, but potentially quite close. As someone who hasn't explored Liverpool fully over my short time here, does waterside mean very close to Liverpool One?

Its not by the shops its further north , disused docklandAgain far from an expert here, but where is the room!?
Isn't the city fairly built up around that area? Wouldn't we have to buy out shops for their space?
You can knock up a fancy stadium graphic in 30 mins, that's really not important. To say the 'only' things left are land and infrastructure is like saying 'the plans for my time machine are all in place, I've selected the vehicle, it's just the concept and implementation of time travel that needs sorting out.'
A lot of that was due to the kitbag deal only aviable online ectLast season we came up for the Wolfsburg game and spent the day in Liverpool ahead of the game. Wondered around the dock area and you could see that the gift shops there had a lot of red and blue in the window, but much more red than blue. Upon closer inspection, most of the blue turned out to be Chelsea stuff. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but in the end I chose cry. The small amount of Everton stuff in the window had the old crest on it as well.
This lack of profile in the club's own city is pretty shocking. From now, the possible ground move, the future retail, marketing, commercial and corporate hospitality decisions have to be one huge exercise in joined up thinking.
Assuming there was no additional engineering challenges by building on the waterfront e.g. increased piling etc. Then I'd imagine the incremental costs would be the ground works - drainage etc (as we'd be the first in) together with access roads. I'd also suggest that any negotiations with Peel would involve us trying to leverage the fact that our presence there could kick start the entire project, and thus we'd be seeking to offset some of this cost.Agree mate.
What do you see as the significant differences in costs (presumably identical stadiums) other than land?
Would imagine infrastructure contributions if applicable, and variations in grants.
Edit. Groundworks for different land types
