New Everton Stadium

I don't know that they could stop it happening, but I can tell you what I could see happening.

We get this lovely, brand spanking new stadium by the river.

It knocks The Pit into a cocked hat, redevelopment notwithstanding.

And they get jealous and sulk for a few years.

Then the city is awarded the Commonwealth Games and a new state of the art stadium is built to house it.

And after it is over they are given the keys to it and they can sell off Anfield and be ripe for a City level takeover.

Nothing they could build for the Commonwealth Games would compare to a state of the art stadium on the Mersey waterfront if it is done properly
a-la Kings Dock idea

I don't mean to upset anyone here but I don't want to be a tourist draw. We have no need to import fans.
We've got a big enough fan base. We've just got to make them come on a more regular basis.
No restricted views, better stadium and of course better football. In other words provide value for money.

The tourists can carry on following the other shower.

No I won't thanks very much...

Bloody foreigners

Interesting to hear Joe Anderson say the stadium would boost Liverpool's bid for the commonwealth games.

I hope he is not suggesting that any new stadium has a permanent running track in place meaning the fans are a distance from the pitch.

No thanks as the fans need to be close to the play as its one of our biggest strengths. WHU have to play at the Olympic stadium with a track around it..watch it kill the atmosphere at their home games

This dock stadium would be amazing but I won't be able to believe anything is happening until they actually start building it. Seen it all fail too many times now.

The fact we're even discussing this, and we have a thread debating which top manager we may be getting, shows the difference Moshiri has already made. What were previously pipe dreams now seem to be options that are at least on the table for discussion.

Need to get yourself to Specsavers fella !

Appears you are very short sighted.

Can you imagine imagine something similar on the docks? Just beautiful

....I don't think the Commonwealth Games are athletics specific, they include a myriad of sports similar to the Olympics. I dare say a new stadium would be very useful.

Not knowing the area around the docks, I had assumed that there would have been loads of warehousing and offices etc which would need demolishing before the site could be prepared.
Going off that picture, it looks as if the first 'spade in the ground' could happen as soon as a decision is made.

I would 'like' this, but I can't, because it's a horrible thought.
