New Everton Stadium

7
Has anyone else came across any reds going into meltdown like I've experienced over a possible waterfront stadium, strangely they've taken an interest in what's best for us and it's all pointing to Croxteth. :)

Yes I have!

One RS at work said it would be best for the city if they moved to the waterfront as we could buy anfield off them as it would suit both teams!!

:rant:

GP appears to have a rather substantial footprint for its capacity. Would modern construction allow for more seats per square metre than the 4 GP stands currently provide?

All I can recall was the club, some years back, publishing one of their various architect's reports to prove the point they wanted to make that GP could not be developed. Of course, the report might have had a completely valid and objective conclusion. It said that the current footprint of GP was insufficient, restricted by other 'untouchable' buildings nearby and that the only option would be to rotate GP, increase the footprint by a further 60%, build 4 new stands and this would create 'only' a 45k seat stadium but at some c.£600m cost!

There you go lads. ON the Docks.

We should really be looking emulate something like the Veltins Arena in Germany. Retractable roof and Retractable pitch, it would be awesome at the docks, as shown below it looks brilliant as a football stadium, but can also be used for; boxing, concerts, ice hockey,etc;

That one pic that was in kenwrights drawing board might have had that kind of roof....looked like it but Im not 100% sure

The original Kings Dock design was heavily influenced by Schalke's ground. I remember that Bill & Gregg visited it.

With the Echo Arena in situ I think it is unlikely we would want the cost and complexity of the sliding roof & sliding pitch designed to turn it into an all-purpose arena. However, if the city did decide there was scope for a >20k arena for bigger events than the Echo can host then the Veltins arena remains one of the better models out there.

Frankly if we got a traditional football ground at the waterfront with some clever combination of e.g. retractable seats, raised floor etc. to also support athletics, concerts etc. that might be the best cost/use compromise...but only if it is a football stadium that can be modified for other uses and not vice versa.
