New Everton Stadium

Can’t pout concrete in freezing conditions.
I've had a lot of conversations about this with my builder and building inspector since this was brought up the other day - mostly because I was worried about my extension's foundations getting poured any day!

Apparently, at least for foundations, if the earth isn't affected by frost at the time of pouring, and the concrete is protected from frost after it's poured, it's okay.

Pouring onto frozen ground is a problem, because it might bear the weight of the concrete while frozen, but could give way once thawed.

Either way, I'm looking at concrete pouring early next week when it's going to be a bit warmer - just to be sure!

Ha, I’m not cracking the whip here!

I’m also not dumb enough to imagine lots will change at a site where no one is working!

I meant it might be possible to get a bit closer than normal.
Exactly a few fly throughs of the site, centre spot perspectives from legal height etc rather than what the club would 'like'.

If there's a chance of freezing conditions before fully cured you can cover it to retain the heat caused from the curing process. Depending on the mix and water content it might only be 24 hours or so.

If it's partially cured but water freezes within it, the expansion of the water could weaken it. I think this is the main concern rather than frost.

Saw this cracking photo earlier. Shows how embedded Goodison is in the local community. Will be devastated when we leave her. The new ground will be magnificent no doubt, but will feel so weird not having houses crammed around it. View attachment 196662
I remember Anfield used to look like that before they decided to not move to a new stadium and uproot generations of families for their own gain in their own 'managed decline' project.

Just tried to find the piece "the revolution will be televised" did on it.

Surprised to say its gone!

My friend of a friend is good mates with Jolyon Rubinstein in London. Will get him to find it.

Hoping to get one last flyby next week, with lots of close ups before I go away for xmas and new year. Then back up and at it next year

Have a great break mate, you've earned it. I've really enjoyed your posts and will look forward to both you and the LOR gang getting back to work in the new year.

Thanks for all the great drone videos and have a very happy Christmas.

You are correct in the sense that a 40/60 mix at 13 degrees spread over an area equal to the square root of the mix combination x depth of area to be filled will work. It is important to remember that the same calculation will fail if you are setting an egg custard.

You are pretty much legendary too Tommye, for people like me, who are living away, it means so much when people like you go out of your way to take pictures and upload them here. It just reminds me that I love my home place and the people that live in it.

Thanks @tommye, thanks for the superb pics also????

Have a crackin one too and hopefully see you again down the site early new year.

In regards to my video's being watched after we are all long gone? never really thought about that tbh. Nice to leave something for fellow blues to watch for generations.

Plans are to do one last one tomorrow before the new year and hopefully a few different shots?
