New Everton Stadium

The answer Ive received on here about this is that it's to do with the space behind that stand and another section encroaching on UU land.

I dont think there is an official explanation though. It's the strangest of things, because the original plans never had a stand looking like that, then it was changed with zero explanation.

The club have prided themselves on being informative about the stadium's progress, but not on that huge development. ?‍♂️
Was the original orientation of the stadium planned to be such that the ‘window’ would be looking towards the river?
Having it where it is now is pretty pointless from an aesthetic point of view, perhaps there is some need for natural light to feed in but seems unlikely. In the event we are successful down the road and expansion is needed, this seems the most obvious infill option but would be rather expensive noting the issues with the neighbouring site as a complication too.

I'm surprised that it's to do with there not being enough space to have a bigger tier.... Thought that some clever engineering would be able to overcome that... Maybe using more structured support by putting in the steels deeper in the ground or something

It will look boss during a night game being able to see into the stadium and see the city at the same time.

They could have done a stand like the South where it will overhang but the boundary line is the boundary and even a stand that overhangs would be encroaching on their land.

This design was the only viable one once they decided on the orientation of the stadium (which was chosen due to the sun)

I like the North stand, I like that it looks a little different. The real shame is that the original South Stand wasn't kept to 17k due to Everton bending to Unesco request to lower the height. I really enjoyed the way the roof sloped from the South Stand to the North Stand.

Juventus seem happy with their piddly 41k stadium.

But we're all unhappy at 52k

Everton that.
I looked back and read through this thread from the start and all the way back in 2014. People were saying we only need a new stadium the same size as we have now or 45k at the most. It was strange to see talk about standing still. I think the original 60k looked amazing with the massive home end but it still looks amazing I can’t wait till it’s finished.

It seems strange that the corners on the second tier are so much higher than in the centre. We could easily have got another 2k extra seats in we’d kept it at the same level.

But it would have to project further northward to do that, and the stadium is currently right on the boundary.

There is no space for even one more row on that end, without overhanging onto the neighbouring property:

Basically the design had to be compromised to suit the needs of a midden next door.

Small compromise in the long run. Beats moving folk out their homes and schools and ripping the heart out of a community for a few extra seats on a couple of stands.

Plus we're used to being next to the city's biggest shitpit so it'll be comforting in a weird way.
