Is it me, don't mean to sound negative but when you see the clips from pitchside, the stands do not look that big, they should have had a curve at the to of the east & west stands and had more seats, just my opinion, what does everyone else think. Just looks underwhelming, it maybe the perspective of seeing it on YouTube?
Yeah, just you. ;)

Considering none of the stands are complete yet, you should probably reserve any judgement until they are.

Was thinking of the names for the four stands and who/how they go about it,personally I'd go for four chunks of the clubs history,1878-1920(Jack Sharp,Will Cuff eg)1920-1940(think only one choice Dixie, Lawton,Sagar,Mercer notable mentions too eg)1940-1970(Hickson,Young,Labone,Ball eg)1970 to current day(Harvey,Kendall,Southall, Kendall eg),something along those lines and put it out online to the fans for clear winners would be correct I think.

It looks like the camera was using a wide angled field of view which would distort the perspective. When you see it with your own eyes it's huge and awe inspiring, and no, that's not what she said last night :coffee:

It's all slightly subjective of course but for me, the big glass panel just dilutes it. It has the feel of an ad-lib that wouldn't be there if the sewage plant wasn't restricting space.

Yes, it may offer the impression that it is bigger than it is, but that's a bit like "padded shoulders" or "tucking socks down yer kecks". It looks like when they first redeveloped White Hart Lane's North stand over 20yrs ago and only had a lower tier with a large glass wall for a while before they built the upper. Or a tiny bit like the North stand at the Aviva in Dublin (though that is far worse in that respect), which is just a space filler.

Yes, if you include the corners you get close to the Gwladys Street's current capacity, but I think another comparison is it is just 43 rows versus 59 rows (at the Street end).... but with the roof raised far higher above in the North stand's case, reducing any acoustic enhancement. Aesthetically, it does break up the uniform bowl, but I think that'll be to the detriment of overall effect and certainly atmosphere.

I think if they were going to be concerned about a stand being too tight due to limited space or wanting an easy build with a bigger capacity, they would have gone with the Stonebridge Cross space.

Personally I don't get any vibe of the tiny stand at the Aviva stadium, like I said previously for me it gives the stadium a bit of variety at both ends and breaks up the quite generic looking East & West stands

Well much of that goes back to the original site selection process. Stonebridge cross was far less suitable for club and owner on several counts, and of course one of the original schemes for BMD was an east to west configuration to help accommodate a commonwealth games bid, with 60k+ capacity and all the extra funding that would include. When that bid failed, we reverted to the traditional N-S layout and a lower capacity.

Yes, there is now some asymmetry due to the dropped level at that end. However, I doubt that would be there if space wasn't restricted. Then the main contrast between both ends would merely be one being single tier and the other 2 tiers (as at GP). As with the Aviva, it would never normally be a design decision to have such a smaller stand and so distant from its roof.... this is entirely due to site constraints.
