New Everton Stadium

A myth perpetuated by gobshites from across the park
My arl fella and brother rarely get takers for their tickets (UGS) on the resale sites when one of them can’t make it, and they say the seat I used to have next to them is empty more often than not 🤷🏻‍♂️
Whether that’s because folk generally want a pair together or whatever I don’t know but they’ve no reason to make it up.

I'm not getting involved in that old chestnut about the cost of building 62k v 52k (the last seats are more expensive etc) but it does come down to money
and confidence, and ambition. Everton as an organisation were (still are from a different angle) too cautious and did not want to be bold. Hence a smaller
stadium, one that more or less, guarantees sell outs so demand will outstrip supply. Easy money.

There is a huge difference between empty seats that have already been paid for and the supporter cannot make it and seats not picked up from general sale.

I quite like the look of the sash windows between the brick work... I think I read that it isn't sash windows but a type of insulation and cladding fixtures for the metal cladding which is a shame.

Looking at this pic, and every time i see any footage of the south stand, i cant help but feel that there should be some additional lounges or corporate hospitality built in the enormous space behind the South stand, above the south concourse, utilising the view of the dock side and the city, and hopefully in the not too distant future, the new planned Central park.

It could even be a second restaurant or bar for use on non match days, or even an Everton museum or something. Or it could be used year round as conferencing rooms/accomodation. Ive attended conferences at Aintree, and they have removable walls to make spaces bigger or smaller depending on requirements.

It just lools like such an enormous waste of space at the moment, and even more so when you see workers moving across there and the scale of the space is there for all to see.

Maybe ive missed something that is already planned for there, or more specifically, a reason why it cant be used, but just seems like a missed opportunity.

It's not there as that would add a large amount of expense, the concourse is big enough for the 6.5k or so that will be in that upper stand so would be overkill creating more. The west stand overlooking the river is where the swanky restaurant will be and remember that area has the corner windows which will allow you to look back at the city.

Once some of the bottom rakers are anchored, those diagonals become redundant. Will be able to get a good impression of the full scale of the South stand soon.
One of the design issues I've always thought was strange was the shape of that podium GA area behind the south stand.

It seems to be quite limited in terms of headroom and lowers towards the glazed elevations. Surely that impacts the view of the city for those inside? The only thing I can think of is that it might a create a massive south-facing greenhouse effect if the windows were too large.

Everytime I haven’t been able to make a match, I tweet Evertonspares on Twitter.

They then retweet it and my phone doesn’t stop pinging for the next few hours with people wanting the tickets.

Usually have at least 10 separate people wanting the tickets within a few minutes of my original tweet.

Yes, it will probably be a combination of avoiding green-house effect and possibly keeping the concourse at a comfortable temp in the extreme cold winter months too. It would be quite a cavernous space if left fully open.

It does look like a large unused space, but that's not unusual for an end stand. They probably also want to see how demand pans out for the existing corporate capacity. If it far exceeds that capacity they may want to insert some corporate-lite lounge space in the first few central rows of the upper section and possibly a small mezz deck extension to the GA concourse to compensate. However, I think the design brief for this end is centred around general admission only, to put as big a volume of the more vociferous fans under one roof at that end.
