Casements history is not contentious and it was not the reason for the opposition to the build. Let’s face it, if you can’t build something in NI because someone was killed there then the Province would be flat.

That's essentially what I was saying.

I can see peoples point when they reckon the inside looks bland but I think it's been specifically designed for atmosphere so it's pointless to judge it without a crowd inside. Unlike the outside which is looking really well.
I'm not sure there is another landmark stadium in the UK quite like it from an architectural point of view.
Villa park and Ibrox have the beautiful old brickwork. Other than those heritage structures.
Spurs and Arsenal have pretty bland exteriors and most others are a mish mash of function over style.
The first night game at BMD will be quite something!

I can see sky wanting to have the first game on the Friday night of the opening weekend

It’s looking great isn’t it? There’s so many little touches/details which give it so much personality. The original dock track lines, the water effect paving, the glass on the north(?) stand which reflects the dock water. I’ve seen a few people (not necessarily evertonians) commenting that it’s just another generic bowl. You could argue that that’s true inside, but I’m not having it for whole site.

First time I’ve seen the trench infilled as well.

One of the scare tactics used when we were submitting planning permission is that we would lose the UNESCO World Heritage maritime mercantile city status, which would lead to a loss of tourism business. Interesting when looking at the LCRCA website that following loss of the status in 2021, the region has increased tourism income by 21% and tourists by 4.4m. I think trying to protect that status heavily influenced the design of the stadium as well.

People don't know what the term generic bowl means. If it was the same all the way around or 3 sides, then perhaps, and yet each stand is different?

If it looked like any other ground in the country then it could be a generic design, however there is no other ground that looks like it.


Conclusion has to therefore be, just because it has the corners filled in it becomes a 'generic stadium' to some.

Able to rebuild old heritage sections and relay old train lines
Reconnect the dock system
Have fine dining restaurants on site
Loge seating

Reconnect the dock system ? It was connected before Everton got involved.
