New Everton Stadium

Well no we arnt. Just the majority are realists.

You do know the stadium had to be scaled back height wise , hence the 53k capacity to satisfy planning don't you ?

That's not true.

Evertonians are realists but (most of anyway) know we're a big club and know how well supported we are, we know where we want to be. Too many seem to be
conditioned through the Bill Kenwright years to accept lower levels of expectation.

Whilst the capacity was not reduced in tandum because of the scaled back height. As far as I recall the height was the roof being made lower. That was all because of the World Heritage Status.

The capacity was 52k long before that.

Wow. It really is huge.

Two conflicting points here. Are you a realist, or annoyed the stadium was scaled back?
The former

If we as a club and fanbase really wanted a huge capacity ground we could have always opted for Stonebridge cross.

But we didn't,
and here we are with a 53k State of the art stadium , front & centre glistening on the waterfront.

Building the slightly scaled back version of the stadium nearly bankrupted us. I am relieved that we seem to have stumbled through and it exists in almost finished form with prospective new ownership incoming that will put us on a steadier financial footing.

I hope TFG and we fans focus on getting the football (the actual important bit!) from academy to first team to the women’s team right rather than going down a rabbit hole obsessing about expansion or additional leisure infrastructure at Nelson Dock.

The football is what matters. It does seem we have become so focused on BMD as the one glimmer of hope that we are losing sight of this.

Please don't ever associate me with being conditioned by Kenwright.
I'm sure I speak for the majority of Evertonians.

I'm delighted with a new stadium. So many are concerned it won't be filled. I'm wishing every option was explored to make it 60k.

But that aside, in a hypothetical discussion of having a 60k stadium, too many blues seem to think its too much car for us. It's the minimum needed, and hopefully these forward thinking new owners will move mountains to realise this.

So if it's not to do with height restrictions what is it then ?
If it was 60k plus it would have near enough flat stands and a huge footprint
Something that takes away the current steepness and close proximity to the pitch.

The lowering of the roof was in order to satisfy Liverpool Planning well after losing Heritage Status.

Oh I agree totally with you.

With all the huge hurdles the club have overcome to get this fantastic stadium it's a fantastic start and the birth of a new chapter in the clubs history.
Sustained success should see the club looking to build on bigger things like City have done.
For now it's a massive jump from where we are now.

There's still 17m between the top of the bowl and the highest point of the roof. Some clubs complete stands aren't even that high! With a change of design it could have yielded a lot more rows at the same steepness and still top out at 47m.

As I always say though, we have to love it for what it is. No point people wasting their energy on thinking why it's not bigger. We are getting a great upgrade on what we have and we have to enjoy it.
