New Everton Stadium

Only Everton could spend £700M on a new stadium and still make it look underwhelming at night.

They better think again on that. FFS, you can make a stadium worth about 10 bob look more impressive in the night time sky than this low-light gas hob look.
Apparently it’s to do with strict regulations with the Civil Avaition Authority in regards to lighting

If the hob lighting can't be altered, then I'd rather they remove it entirely.

It's a bit incredulous to think something can't be done to improve the look there.
Can believe it’s that difficult, surely just needs something to diffuse the light more.
I’m actually amazed the fittings themselves aren’t adjustable to give spot or diffused light.
Seems a very ill considered choice if they can’t.

Seems a very strange regulation that.
More likely LoR managed to get cheaper lights signed off somehow and now we’re stuck with them.
Can’t imagine at design stage anyone would see the effect and thought, Eureka! that’s what we need - a stadium bowl that looks like it’s sitting on a camp stove

Mind you if we’ve got a £500m sponsorship from Centrica / British Gas incoming I think I can live with it.

It might be that Everton are responsible for changing the settings / diffusing them once LoR compete the handover (with their job just being the physical installation). The other side still hasn't been switched on yet either so there may still be adjustments going on. I'd imagine its easier to line them up whilst they're more focused/spot light like than diffused.
From the ground it still looks good tbf so I’m not concerned.

With the claddng being curved, I would have thought they could have still managed some contiguous strip lighting across it, perhaps running along the top and bottom, rather than what we see currently?

The whole point is to enhance the look, not cheapen it. It will definitely shift some focus away from what looks a top-class build in every other aspect.

Perhaps when the plaza is fully lit then that would compensate, but only if the present hob lighting is removed.

They really have to go back to the drawing board on this and rethink it. It has not worked out. Better to have no lighting there than something purely for it's own sake.

I cant imagine that. Why would a fuller lighting up of the stadium be more of a danger to air traffic than the existing low-light system?

Do planes have near misses with the Allianz Arena, for example?

It sounds like a pack of lies to me.

I bet Dave wakes would wake on Christmas and complain about the brand new Porsche on his driveway because it still has the dealer stickers on the window.

It's an underwhelming use of a state of the art £700M stadium. If you prefer to make ad hominem attacks on me, then so be it.
