New Everton Stadium

The terrace and fan plaza are looking great. I take it all that paving is an expensive outlay. I just hope it is treated with respect. It is ours. The home of our club which we all love and cherish despite the pain we have all been through. So we must look after it. One of the issues i foresee is a chewy infested expanse. I truly hope this is not the case. I was walking through town the other day and could not believe the amount on the pavements and squares. I hope we have a chewy police. One warning then a ban for defacing our home. The Forth Grace. The Toyota Toffees. UTFT
The council paid for a lot of the restoration work around the site (fan plaza, etc)

As someone who worked on a construction project where the client had endless visits for dignitaries, media, influencers and all sorts of other wastrels, it was a massive PITA for the contractors - who took it out on the client's representative - which was me.

As long as it's still a work site, and H&S rules apply, then it's really tricky to temporarily stop work to allow visits, affects the critical path on the timeline etc. Now the club may have factored this into the program - but I've not seen any mention of it in the Comms to date.

We've waited over two decades for this. I'm sure we can wait a bit longer.

Some people on here behave like it's just before Christmas... oh, hang on.
Merry Christmas to all Blues everywhere.
There could easily be a perimeter set up around the stadium at a safe distance from ongoing work once the concourse furniture is complete.

I'm not proposing that everyone gets their nose right up against the main entrance's windows to peer inside or get down behind the south and north stands to the west stand area. But there has to be scope to get beyond the wall and get a lot closer to the stadium than we've been able to so far.

I'll tell you what my fear is about a site that's provided a 'natural' barrier like a wall: that access to it will be generally restricted in a way that it could never, of course, have been at Goodison.

It's vitally important that this stadium is available to the community 24/7 and not treated like an out of reach facility.

The dock walls have been hated in Liverpool because of their restrictions on access. I'd counsel the club never to go down that route. It has to be a living social organism in that district or it will become estranged to it, alienate it and soon fail.

I suspect the plaza will be open from early morning to late at night when there is no match on. Can't imagine non ticket holders getting past the wall on a match day or people being able to wander around at 3 o'clock in the morning when there is no match. The gates are there for a reason. Would seem to be a bit churlish to criticise the club in this regard. We've opened up that part of the dockside for the first time in 170 years.

Only on special event days it will be closed. Obviously if you run a concert, be it within the stadium or fan plaza, you can't allow others to enter the site.

*but I agree with Dr Baxter that it will close when the restaurants/bars and perhaps shop shuts late at night. That's just sensible.

Something occurred to me recently. Do any of the hospitality suites have a dance floor? I'm no Fred Astaire, but if they are looking to hire out parts of the stadium for weddings, retirement parties etc you would imagine it would be something you'd expect to find.

That would be a major mistake.

Much ado about nothing. If the club want to actively demonstrate they've learned anything it'll be that the place needs to be a revenue stream at least 6 days a week or more. I expect the pump house to be a merch facility with a historical slant; the North gate being left open to direct you that way on your path to the stadium. They're going to have to find a way to amortize running costs and being closed all week won't help with that.

The club have already said it is a 365 day a year facility.
