Yuck. Tacky as anything that. Prefer our current lighting to that even though not perfect.I always thought the lighting would be something like this.
If an MLS stadium costing a third of our stadium can have that you wonder wtf was in the heads of those sanctioning the gas hob effect we have.
I know it's cool to bash Dave, but I think it's ok to say we'd like a bit more oomph from the exterior and lighting designs, and the new owners may feel that too. Stadiums evolve over time, and Goodison was no exception - let's not forget the current look is down to cladding Moshiri had installed early on, plus the lit up lettering on the Park End.
The location of Bramley Moore may be a constraint on the materials we can use - from both a conservation and a structural point of view. Part of the design of the barrel cladding is to act as a wind and rain baffle. As well as being a smaller stadium (20k), Allianz Field appears to use a laminated PTFE mesh, and I'm unsure of its long-term suitability in the equivalent weather and salt-water exposure of the banks of the Mersey. There may also be unique planning considerations for the lighting of the stadium; the Echo Arena (M&S whatever) has similar subtle exterior lighting.
